Thread: Removal of sliced weapons from vendors?

I read in a post that there was talk of removing the abilty to sell sliced weapons from vendors. I can't seem to find the link again. Does anyone have more information on this?
I really hope this isn't the case. I'm a Master Smuggler who makes his living buying stock weapons from vendors and slicing them for reselling on my vendor. This seems similar to gun-running and fits with the concept of smuggler at least to me.
It also appears they intend to remove spice making from the game according to another post. I hope they give us a combat tree with a few some minor defenses instead. Considering the only 2 spices I've ever used are muon gold in emergency healing situations on my Doc and Neutron Pixie which I'd occassionally take on my BH right before attacking an NPC mark. it's not a bad alternative if you don't have a full buff sessions to play. And you can spend the downtime from the spice setting up your next mission. If you guys haven't sold this method to BH you should give it a sales pitch.

I do hope they get rid of vendors selling sliced weapons. I'm tired of going to a well known mall and seeing illegal weapons and armor for sale.

You should read the posts in this forum. They answer all of your questions. However, I'll give you the short version.
The changes in Slicing are going to be time consuming. For someone to slice weapons and armor to sell on their vendor, they'll probably have to spend about 5 times the amount of time that they used to in order to do it. I imagine that will greatly reduce the amount of sliced item vendors.
Spice crafting is going bye-bye. Instead, we'll get Spice through smuggling missions.

at the end you could always have proxy items that say the specs of a sliced weapon and to contact you if you wanted one of those.
harder to do but still possible even if they take contraband away from vendors, even more probabley they could place the contraband inside containers to see if that way they can avoid the filter.

In all fairness though, i would like to see a "decrease" in illegal items on vendors rather than a complete removal of them, seeing as that I know for myself, slicing for a master weaponsmith was a GREAT deal of my income as a smuggler.

I think what a lot of us would like is some RISK for putting contraband on vendors. It just doesn't make any sense at all that an item is considered illegal but you can put it on a vendor, the vendor is listed and in upcoming patches searchable.
Wouldn't you think law enforcement NPC should take a particular interest in vendors that carry illegal goods?
What is the point of having some things be contraband if there are no consequences for dealing in them and carrying them?

I think it's a bit ironic that Kells as a Jedi would complain about illegal slicing. When without a doubt most of his/ her Jedi grinding was done with sliced armor and weapons. Perhaps even sliced grenades. If course they would deny this. Suddenly when you are no longer able to equip the armor and only those with bounties on you can, it's time to remove it? A tad hypocritical.
As for the items being illegal. That's in theory, not in actual practice. I've yet to witness any reporcussionsfrom a search for contraband. The irony is they finally give Smugglers the abilty to control slices to some degree and then take away the abilty to profit from the better control.

People always find a way to attack jedi for some reason. If its hypocrital for a jedi, its hypocrital for everyone, because all classes have used sliced equipment.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. If you must know I've always sliced my own gear since I'm a smuggler. Go troll somewhere else, kthxbi!

Well I have no stinking Jedi and never will and I'm as sick as Kell of seeing contraband for sale in the open. What IS the point in it being called contraband?
