Thread: Break Out! ((RP))
N’Joh Sonik leaned out around the corner of his cell door and peered down the corridor past the other retaining cells. Empty. Something’s up…this can’t work. He took a glance at the dead Storm trooper guard tucked into the corner of his cell then flipped over the E11 blaster rifle in his hands to check the charge on the power pack. Full…love those Imperial standards.
No more than an hour ago, he had been in sitting in Imperial special agent Overan’s office in the bowels of the ISB headquarters complex:
“Have a seat, Captain,” Gestured Dank Overan from behind his large desk. “We have something to discuss.”
The two Imperial troopers that had brought N’Joh into the office lead him to the chair in front of Dank’s desk, then unceremoniously planted him in it and stood guard.
“You two, leave us,” Dank ordered. “But, sir, regulations-“
“Trooper!” Dank stood. “Turn yourself around and march out that door and engage the locking mechanisms or you’ll be manning an watchtower on a planet so awful, it’ll make this place look like a business district on Imperial Center.” He then pointed to the door and snarled at the Trooper “Do you get me?”
“I get you, sir!” replied the Trooper as he spun with his counter part and marched toward the door. Dank took his seat again and pulled out a drawer, rummaging through as one trooper made his way out and the other engaged the security panel near the door.
“What’s this all about?” probed N’Joh. “Getting jealous of your goons’ fun? Want to take a few shots yourself, huh? How about you release these binders and you can taker you best-“ “Shut up.” Said Dank, cutting N’Joh off. “As I said, we have something to discuss.” He took a look towards the door at the Storm trooper standing at attention and sat the noise sponge on the desk between them.
“Locks engaged, sir. We’ll wait for your signal.” With that, the trooper made his way out as the door shut behind him, locking switches securing into place.
After N’Joh had been taken back to his cell, he started putting his plan in motion. He’d laid prone in the floor with some red gruel from his rations splattered around his midsection hoping to draw in the guard. It had worked. As soon as the trooper got close, N’Joh had used an extremely dirty move to knock the guard down and relieve him of the rifle. After the trooper had gotten a good shot in on N’Joh’s ribs with his armored fist, N'Joh had his elbow tucked around the guard’s throat under the helmet to muffle the cries from the shank digging in between pieces of Storm trooper armor. Just got to know where to stick ‘em thought the rogue.
But now it was time to move. N’Joh mocked at the lifeless guard in the corner, “I’ve got to get out of here. Let’s hope it works, huh, bud?” He took his first step out of the cell into the corridor, keeping his arm near his ribs and the rifle low at his side. It was nearing daylight so most of the complex’s detainees were still sleeping. You couldn’t tell that though being a hundred meters underground in the depths of the ISB’s Tatooine headquarters.
N’Joh crept down the hallways and around a few corners. Only one close call when he had to tuck into an alcove near some heating pipes to keep from getting spotted. He sneaked on though, staying low and quiet. Things were going as well as could be expected until he was about to enter the corridor that would take him to the small turbolift to the surface.
“Freeze! Hands where I can see them!” said a firm voice behind N’Joh “Do it now! Reach!”
Dammit! Here we go thought N’Joh. “Ok, don’t shoot. I give up.” He raised his left hand, wincing in pain as it stretched his side. “Don’t shoot.” Just as he finished, N’Joh spun and dropped onto his right side, flat as he could while leveling the E11 at the Storm Trooper. Red blaster bolts ripped the air above him as he pulled the trigger. *BLAT* *THUD* *CRINCH* The blaster bolt from N’Joh’s rifle had hit the trooper in the side of the knee, knocking him down. That was followed up by a second shot that busted through the eyehole on the trooper’s helmet and charred then insides.
Immediately, N’Joh sprang to his feet and burst around the corner towards the turbolift to the surface. His mind screamed STOP! as four more troopers appeared in front of him, rifles at the ready. N’Joh fell on his backside and started back peddling to his feet, firing at the troopers as he made his way back around the corner the way he’d came. He heard a short scream and reckoned he’d nailed one of them.

“Sir, prisoner 4507 is loose and attempting an escape and we’ve lost two men already. We’re at morning shift change but the day shift is on route from Bestine. Arrival is imminent.” Announced the voice from the comm. unit.
Dank Overan reclined behind his desk and replied, “Excellent. Keep me updated. I don’t want this burden to the Empire getting loose, you understand?”
“Yes, sir! He’ll be detained in moments.” Said the voice from the comm. unit.
“See to it, sergeant.” Ordered Dank as he flipped off the unit. He spun around in his chair and watched the view screens project their holocam imagines in front of him as he broke a smirk.

Come on, I know you’ve got one…standard issue! N’Joh was running through the trooper who he had just downed moments ago’s belt pockets while keeping an eye on the corner. Got it! Stun grenade. He pulled out a small canister device, punched a switch, and headed to the edge of the corridor and glanced around, seeing the three remaining troopers edging their way up towards him.
“Eat this!” the smuggler yelled, then took the canister device and chunked it down the corridor. The Imperials did an abrupt about-face to head for cover, but N’Joh brought his stolen blaster up and took one down before he could make it to safety.
N’Joh ducked back around the corner and waited. *KABLAM* Blue light flashed down the hallway. Emergency sprinkler systems were activated showering the area. Warning klaxons were sounding everywhere.
Go! N’Joh took off around the corner splashing water, running towards the two remaining guards who were both trying to get off the ground and still recovering from the effects of the stun. N’Joh stopped short of them and bit his lip. *BLAP* *BLAP* Them or me. He’d put a blaster bolt on each from no more than five meters away. He jogged up a little further and stepped into the turbo lift, signaling it for the surface level.
* * *
Dank Overan was still watching the whole thing unfold on his view screen, “Impressive, Captain. Most impressive.”
* * *
Empty. N’Joh tossed the rifle in the corner. Nothing but a flimsy weight now. He started up the hallway at a jog. This part of the complex was much nicer. Very organized with a black stone floor. It was nothing like the dark maze of run-down corridors and cells a few hundred meters below.
*PLANG* Blaster fire splashed onto a metal door beside N’Joh as he automatically dove to the floor then rolling back to his feet. RUN! Ten troopers had just arrived, still in formation and had spotted the escapee before they could even get to the sublevels.
N’Joh sprinted towards an Imperial officer focused on a comm. unit ahead of him. The officer looked over his shoulder and tried to dodge but it was too late. N’Joh snagged the man’s wrist, twisted once, spun him around with a loud wet snap coming from the end of the uniform’s sleeve, and held a dull shank to his neck.
The squad of troopers followed behind, aimed at the two, but didn’t fire.
“Back off! Or someone’s going to be mopping up the Lieutenant’s blood!” N’Joh threatened. The troopers didn’t comply, keeping their aim on the two. The grip on the officer’s broken arm and the shank at the neck kept the man from adding his own comments.
Think…think, man. Let’s get out of here! N’Joh started edging towards the primary entryway a few meters to his left, dragging the Imperial officer with him.
“Open fire on my command!” shouted one of the troopers. “The Empire doesn’t negotiate with terrorists!”
Oh no! N’Joh gritted his teeth and pulled the shank tighter against the oficer’s throat, bringing a small trickle of blood to the edge of the blade.
“Belay that order, squad!”
* * *
“Lower your weapons!” Dank Overan ordered.
“But, sir-“ “Stow it, soldier! He can’t get far. That piece of scum isn’t worth a good officer.” Dank interrupted. “Sonik, let the man go!”
“Fat chance! Why don’t you try to come and take him? I owe you a few good swings for your cronies’ idea of interrogation down there,” replied N’Joh who took a look at the guards and then the security panel text to his exit.
* * *
N’Joh looked at the technical read-out on the panel, viewing the headquarter's overall status. Then he saw it. She's here! The landing pad log. I don’t want to know the odds on this one, but it's my only chance. N’Joh had locked eyes with Dank. “I think it’s about time, Agent Overan.”
“Time? Time for what?” replied Dank. It only took but a couple seconds, but that’s all the time that was needed. N’Joh dropped the shank in his right hand and simultaneously he punched the release command on the console. He lifted his leg and shoved the officer with his boot toward the Storm Trooper squad and Dank while backing out the door.
Blaster fire sounded behind him as he took a sharp turn and headed for the landing pad. There she is! The Rogue.
* * *
“After him!” Dank ordered, leading the squad behind him out the exit and towards the landing pad.
Got him! He spotted N’Joh running across the landing pad towards the beat up CEC YT-1300 freighter that was impounded after he captured the smuggler in Coronet less than a month ago. “Squad, open fire!” The Storm trooper squad took aim and opened up on the smuggler dashing up the entry ramp to the ship. But it was too late, Sonik was up the ramp and into freighter.
* * *
N’Joh made a dash for the cockpit of the Sonik Rogue and hit the emergency power-up commands. The commands sacrificed safety and component efficiency for possible burnouts and a quick getaway when needed. Come on baby, let’s get out of here!
Less than a minute later, the Sonik Rogue was climbing towards space and calculating its jump to hyperspace. Now, to kick this plan into gear.
* * *
I’ll catch up to you soon, scum bag. Dank looked up, watching the Corellian freighter lift higher into the clear Tatooine sky.

Two weeks and three fake IDs later, Captain N’Joh Sonik of Ord Mantell was walking through Narmle, Rori’s small starport. This shouldn’t take long, wonder where- “You’re coming with us” said a gruff voice from behind N’Joh, shoving a blaster barrel into his back.
“Easy there. I’ll cooperate. I had a feeling you'd be looking for me.” said N’Joh.
An hour later, N’Joh was seated next to a Sullustian in a tan uniform in a living room of a random house in Narmle.
“You know why you’re here, don’t you, Captain?” questioned the Sullustian. “I am Been Bieb, Commander of the Rebel Alliance here on Rori and I need your help.”
“What do you want out of me?” replied N’Joh “What does your Alliance need me for?”
“To fight!” said Been. “Our spies have been watching you since the day you broke free. They reported that you had expressed interest in our cause. I was asked by Alliance Intelligence to bring you in and-“ Before he could finish, N’Joh jumped across the seat while pulling his pistol, snagged the Commander by the throat, and slammed him against the near wall with a crunch. He quickly pulled the pistol up to the bottom jowl of the Sullustan as other Rebel soldiers poured into the room, weapons trained on N'Joh's back.
He looked square in the eyes of Been Bieb and spoke with a vengeful tone, clinching his teeth, “I am not a soldier. I am not an officer. And I don’t give a womp rat’s ass for your revolution. Get it right: I want revenge on the ISB and that no-good crook Dank Overan, not the Empire. I'll help you but only because I’m in it for the money.” N’Joh kept his glare and pistol on the Commander.
“I think we can work out an equitable deal for those terms, Captain,” Been said in a calm voice, then motioned for the Rebel soldiers to lower their weapons.
N’Joh gave him a nod, released his grip, and lowered his pistol. “So we have a deal?”
“We have a deal. Welcome to the Alliance, Captain Sonik.” Said Been. “If you’re interested, I have a shipment of munitions hidden at the starport that need to be transported to a construction project for a base past the Anoat system along the Ison Trade Corridor. Payment on delivery.”
“When do I lift?” answered N’Joh, holstering his baster pistol.
Bieb replied, “Soon as your ready. Although I’d recommend stopping at the Alliance supply depot on the south side of the city. You’ll want to pack for extreme cold. Coordinates will be loaded into your ship’s computer. Good luck, Captain Sonik.”

I hope N'Joh enjoys his trip to this extremly cold place![]()
Eh, I'm sure it'll be routine
He needs a break to continue his other projects...namely...
The N'Joh Sonik Saga in my sig. I just checked and it's up to page 87
It chronicals N'Joh Sonik's start into the Smuggling business, through his rise in the ranks of the Underworld, through the Battle of Nar Shaddaa, to Han Solo's falling out with Jabba and N'Joh taking his place (sort of), and into the SWG era after ANH.
I hope to have it finished by late Spring/early Summer if I get some writing time.
