I posted this on the GCW board, but since it has Smuggler content I should post it here.
Had a brainstorm. Lets say that Kashyyyk has quite a few Star Destroyers around it along with various Imperial support craft and fighters forming a blockade. It will be the objective of pilots and Smugglers to get past the blockade to land on the planet.
There is a hole in the blockade, however, the route to it is very long and increases the flight time to Kashyyyk. However, there is no danger of any sort in this route. This can be used by the people who do not want to die and don't want to risk combat.
Smugglers can use their fast talk skill to slip by the Imperial Blockade. Take for instance Han Solo flying the shuttle to Endor. Smugglers could install a 75% working fake code transponder to mask their ships identity. Smugglers could build these and sell them to other pilots for use in their ship. Imperial TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers would open communication with the Smuggler. The transponder builds a fake identity to further buy time to fast talk to the station. An example:
Vick Cloudwalker in the YT-1300 "Corellia Star" has a fake transponder naming the ship "Happy Mynock." The captain of the Imperial Star Destroyer comms the YT-1300 from 2000 m out.
Captain: "Identify your business in this blockaded sector Happy Mynock"
You are then given a few choices depending on Underworld skills -
Choice A: I'm a Smuggler trying to sneak past your blockade
Choice B: I'm here to deliver some supplies to the Southern Base
Choice C: I made a mistake! I'm in the wrong sector! Bye!
Choice D: (Talk about bad pirates near Corellia)
All of these choices will be randomized but you will have to answer quickly!
You may get -
Captain: "It seems you check out. Have a nice day!"
or
Captain: "Would you mind coming a little closer for the inspection?"
Choice A: Sure! I want to help you as best I can...
Choice B: Negative! Very bad plasma leak on board...
Choice C: On second thought, I don't have business on Kashyyyk
Choice D: Kiss my Wookiee Imperial scum!
If you fail -
Captain: Shut down your engines and prepare to be boarded!
You better run then!
If you are being attacked by the Empire, Star Destroyers near the planet could possibly tractor beam you into their landing bay. If you are caught, you are dropped back on the planet you took off from minus quite a few credits in fines. Try again! To escape the tractor beam you could hit the boosters and hope to break free or face the Star Destroyer and fire a few torpedoes and hope they are acquired by the tractor beam instead of you!
When you land, you land! People could opt to blast their way through the blockade, but they could fail. Pilots will be able to have the option to use fake transponders on their ships, but Smugglers will have the fast talk. Fake transponders may be enough to get you through. Just depends on how lucky you are in the roll of the dice. Those that don't want to do that will take the longer route through the system. Imperial pilots will have free reign to land on the planet no questions asked. What do you all think?

I agreed with this thread b4 I even read it.
But again were stuck at the point where were not allowing the player base the experience of this new planet.
SOE will never go for that...
to bad though

They have JTL included, and they can fly around the long way without trouble. They aren't excluded, but they don't get to take the easy one button way out anymore. Now they might cherish some aspects of Star Wars...

I love the ideas.
And as I posted on one of your other threads on the same topic...

This sounds incredibly cool and amazingly fun!Something very Star Warsy, and very Smuggler-like.
Though I'd like to add something to the repsonses...
Capatin: (If you select choice B) "Plasma leak? Are you alright? Why don't you land and we'll help you fix that up."
Choice A: Umm, that's okay. We're fine, we're all fine, here now, um. Thank you. Uh, how are you?
Choice B: Oh, alright. Thank you.
Captain: (If you select choice A) "Huh? Who is this? What's your ship indentification number?"
Choice A: Sorry, sorry. Just a joke. Yeah, you can inspect the ship.
Choice B: *Shut off the comm and try to blast through the blockade* Boring conversation anyway. Crew, we're gonna have company!
Okay, so I like Han Solo's line a little too much.

Thanks! However, this really has no teeth unless all forms of instant travel to Kashyyyk are unavailable. Since JTL is included with RotW, everyone has the ability to be a pilot. If they don't want to risk challenging the blockade, they could take a non-dangerous, but long route through the system to land on Kashyyyk. If you want it short and sweet, challenge the blockade. Fake transponders havea 75% success if they are built the best and all pilots could use them. Business for the Smuggler. You get a very Star Warsy Imperial Navy presence. If you want some excitement shooting your way through the blockade, hire a Smuggler to take you through on his YT-1300 like Han in Episode IV. Kashyyyk will be a more wanted piece of content if you make it harder to get there. Its not impossible, but you should do it ina Star Warsy way. As of now, there is no point to having JTL. If instant-travel is offline in all ways to go to Kashyyyk, people will use JTL more and appreciate their ships and that content. The game will get better because of it! Thanks for listening!
