OK, I saw that it cost 1539 for every 1000 I transfer to someone. My person wanted 1200, so I thought the correct calculation would be 2139; instead I gave him 2139 and lost 3257 (or something like that). What should I have done instead to get it right? Just did 1200 to him?
How do I charge for the extra? And what's the going rate? That was my first FP sell (I usually do slicing only), and I think I did it wrong. Please educate me -- gently
I thought if I divided 1000 by 1539 (I'm an LT) it would work. So....what should I have done instead?

You should've just /del-ed 1200...the system takes care of the rest...
As far as what to charge for the extra you sent him, just subtract the difference... 2139-1200 = 939...and charge him your c/FP for the extra 939 points you sent him.
