I was wondering what all of you would think on adding a new ability for smugglers... the ability to "sneak" past agro NPC's and not get attacked or "seen". It would work only on NPC's and I think it would be somewhat smuggler like, as smugglers naturally do alot of sneaking(past authorities). Perhaps you all could add some features on how this could actually work in the game... details details, let's get some input from everybody

A really good ability to give us would be a ranged db for the pistol. I get tired of being in pvp and not being able to get any dbs because usually a rifleman takes the kill and if they don't manage to get it then a melee fighter will.

I don't necessarily think we should get it, but I can definitely see the mindset of "shooting them while their down" to be the rougish type of thing to go into Dirty Fighting.

While I see the smuggler as the futuristic equivalent ofa Thief, I don't think we should go down that road.

Same goes for the ability to pick pockets (I know you didn't mention this, it's just another Thief trait)... Just getting too close to the fantasy counterpart for me.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

I like the ranged Death Blow idea.

And the reason why Smugglers should get that and not Gunfighters is:

1. Its Dirty, and we have a combat branch in our skill tree called Dirty Fighting.
2. When Stopping Shot gets fixxed, it should be about the same thing.
3. Smuggler's about survival, shooting someone when they're down is part of that.

Except a ranged DB cannot technically be considered dirty if Riflemen already have that ability, yet don't have anything considered a "dirty" technique.
