I love it against creatures, the ability to stop the critter is great!
Too bad that against ranged MOBs is completely usless

yes i've been having so much fun "rooting" creatures with concussion shot!
it's not as useful against NPCs with ranged weapons, but still it's nice to stop something in its tracks.

Yeah, that shot has become the backbone to my solo tactic. Start off with concussion, then blast away on the mob, then when they run up to me use the pistol/ranged knockdown with a quick follow up with the strongest shot I have to get a little extra damage from them being on the ground. By the time I've cooled down from the knockdown combo I concussion shot again and move out of melee range, wash-rinse-repeat.
Has anyone else noticed that if you kneel that the concussion root doesn't hold? I hit the mob and see the +Rooted+ over their head, then amoment later theycome running/warp at me. I was going to bug it last night but the server crashed, probably to remind me to go to bed at a decent time.

Although rooting can be very useful it's certainly not how concussion shot is supposed to work if you read the desription. It's supposed to be a daze (or mez) shot so the target can't do anything but will wake up if damaged. It's a good thing to have if you got two enemies coming at you at once, just daze one of them and you get your back free to take care of the other.
I wonder if the description is correct and the current effect is a placeholder or if they ditched daze and haven't updated the description yet. I'm hoping for the former.

yeah i'm excited to form these new strategies where our skills actually do stuff they're supposed to.
i didn't notice that bug where they would move around when rooted. when i rooted a mob, they didn't move till the rooted state wore off.
i would usually start off with a rollshot, leaving me in a kneeling position, then fire the concussion to make em stay away, then a couple of overcharge shots, and a firearm strike to KD them when the rooted wore off.
wasn't really repeating in the same order every time, but each time was similar.
i'm sure once we have more offensive skill/abilities our strategies will vary more.

Panic shot already does that I think.
In any case, Concussion DOES work on ranged mobs. Their range just has to be less than yours
For instance, while fighting Dragonets, I noticed that my ee3 has a range of 50 meters, while their spitting had a range of around 35-40. Tuskens are a different story because they're rifleman, and seem to start firing at about 80m. And as a for instance. With smuggler armor, ranged weapons, at least energy, will do less damage to you than kinetic. So in some instances, it's preferable to get hit by the ranged, if you're going to get hit at all.

Next time try dive shot instead of roll (although you can't do overcharge in the prone position). You get hit a lot less that way

from my short experience, no. they're able to pivot around to face you no matter where you go. but they can't move from that spot.

Does anyone know if they are going to change the way concussion shot works? Currently as we all know it's a root which I personally like, but it's suppose to mezz not root. If it stays, then I can drop my stopping shot skills and pick up some others, but if they change it I want to have stopping shot. The problem is that we can only respec for another week, so I don't know what to keep.
Also, does stopping shot and concussion shot work on different timers? If so, could you root using one and before it runs out root with the other effectively keeping them rooted for the duration of the fight?
Any thoughts?
