Thread: i am very dissappointed :(
i would just like to express my dissapointment about this new slicing system in a non-flaming way, and maybe get some feedback on what we can expect for the future of slicing.

i haven't gotten a chance to test the new slicing system because i've been without internet for about a week. but i've been reading up and speaking to my fellow Smugglers who have been testing it.
i'm sad to say i'm pretty disappointed in what this new slicing system turned out to be.
i know the thread on the "In Concept" forum was just that, "in concept", and subject to change. but really, i thought the new slicing system would at least be a mini-game with a nice and interesting graphical interface.
instead we just got more text boxes. that's not what i'd call a mini-game
it doesn't even sound fun really. it just sounds like the old slicing system minus the tools, plus a choice of what you're slicing and how much you're slicing it.
while i do appreciate that you've finally allowed us to choose the type and amount of the slice, there needs to be more to it than that. the mini-game which was proposed sounded pretty neat. it would allow the skill of the player to play a part in the outcome, having to make split second decisions under a ticking clock. but now we just choose and click and all slices of the same type will always be the same.
pretty boring if you ask me, or anyone.
i don't want to sound like i'm whining. but you had that old thread on the In Concept forum up for about 5 months and never once did you or anyone update it and keep the Smugglers in the loop on how things were going with the system. then our most trusted Smuggler community members spoke to Devs at E3 and Fan Fest and reported back that the final system would be somewhat different than the one laid out in the In Concept thread. so i'm not saying i expected that In Concept system. but the system we actually got seems to be much more than "somewhat different". it's entirely different. and it's not at all a mini-game. and now i'm reading that the "breakage" system, which provided great risk/reward, is being removed.
so what happened? did you pull the old "bait and switch" on the Smugglers?
that's what it seems like to me.
if all of this is a placeholder system to hold us over till a more comprehensive system can be put in place, and the removal of the "breakage" is just temporary till it gets fixed, then that's great. but if this is all we're getting then why bother doing this?
can you tell us if this is a temporary place holder till we get a true slicing mini-game? or if this is it, and we've been hit with the old "bait and switch"?

That wasn't even a flame, it was an honest concern and question.
If they are shutting down communications like that then I see no hope.

Sorry couldnt resist.. but yes i agree. The Post deleting gets slightly out of hand right now. I wish they would do that on the Whin0r Forum instead here.

Oh, for Pete's sake. THIS got deleted? I don't understand it. This was non-flaming and honest.
I keep thinking I'm so jaded that I won't feel surprised or stung anymore, but apparently that is not the case.
Oh well. These ARE private boards and owned by SOE, so they get to call the shots. Just doesn't bode well for customer relations in general and the smuggler profession specifically.
