Thread: 11 days later, I was right.
I posted a dire prediction of what was going to happen with slicing and our future as a whole, 11 days ago, June 11th.
Well, Let me just post a quote from that one...
We get the slicing "mini-game" (what happened to revamp, and will it live up to our other mini-game, Jawa Sanford & Son?) and it's kinda cool, or a huge let down.
- We're getting our slicing. Wow that description sounds realllllly cool! Wait, you made it simpler? Okay well-- HEYYYYYY.... all you did was add a picture of red and blue wires (still on a wooden staff) and now we have to add 4 different tools made with asteroid resources to guarantee a slice! (okay, this is an exaggeration I'm sure) well, allright, but at least the smuggling part is still coming
- HEY! I thought you said there wa a difference between Smuggling and smuggling! there's no difference! Hey! Hey wait! I'm talking to you! Don't walk away! This is serious! Hey!
Now, let's take a look at what people are saying about the slicing system now that it's implemented.
"I'm certainly not perfectly satisfied with the current incarnation on TC (not even a new UI? Come on!),
but I'm ready to accept it and start focusing on the much more important matter of Smuggling."

Also, with this system, you can have an 8% damage slice AND a 6% speed slice. Couldn't do that in the previous system.
They've already said the Smuggler stuff was going to happen over several publishes. Here's the first one.
I can be happy with the slicing changes and *not* settle for it. There can always be more, and when more comes, I'll be glad for it as well.
But let's not complain about nothing happening for 2 years, and then when something does happen it's "not enough". Then we're just sounding like other professions that shall remain nameless..... "

"while slicing can be a pretty good way of life and a solid way to make a living for a smuggler, it shouldn't be the total focus. if our slicing game is compact and simple and QUICK, then it means that we'll have more time for when real SMUGGLING is one day introduced to actually SMUGGLE!"
"I think that slicing can stay the way it is - of course fixing that crap what dont work - maybe making the % increases a bit higher (like 2-3 times) - but all in all - before this game dies, I wanna see some smuggler content."
In case anyone wonders what the point of this was, the main reason for the original post was this quote right here:
The great thing about the system the Devs chose for giving us "all that we asked for" is that it's gradual. One tiny piece at a time. So by the time it's all finished and implemented, they can say "We've working on this for TWO YEARS NOW! We can't go back and start over just yet. There are other more pressing matters. You know Chef's cry too!!"
Just remember that when we get "smuggling" and it's the biggest let-down of all.
