Thread: Components AKA 'drops' needed for slicing?... Check out this alternate idea...
(REPOST from "Concerns about slicing." Subject. I wanted to get a little more public with this though :smileywink![]()
I had an idea..... how about you give the smuggler the ability to break apart electronic items for their craft.
That's where we get the components for the slicing from.
Weaponsmiths / Armorsmiths / Artisans make crates of weapons / armor / powerups.
Have you ever seen a reason to keep a 'broken data pad' around? No most people delete them.
Let the smugglers break apart these items, and get components from them. "Junk", old weapons, CDEF pistols, crappy armor, crates of Artisan Knives.
This will keep the demand infor Armorsmith / Weaponsmith / Artisans and the regular joe's who find looted "junk" items.
Just and idea... what do you other smugglers think?

I think its innovative. But not a good idea for the higher-end loots. You want higher results - work harder and pay more.

Again, I liken this to the shipwright's firespray schematic - it goes for millions but you have to sift through a TON of components to even get the disks, then there's the resource requirements after that. I've a shipwright alt and there are times I WISHED I could go into a dungeon and get the dang disks because you have to be patient and you still need to FIND the hundreds of space parts you'll need to generate just one disk.

I was hoping that this would be a 'regular' drop... with of course.. a bit more rarity for the high level.
This shouldn't be hard for a smuggler to achieve though, a Master Smuggler should be able to perform miracle slices with low level items.
That's what we do, we tinker / break apart / put back together something to get the most out of it.
Then we sell it at a profit ![]()
