Thread: Smugglers and the HAM revamp (In Concept)

Anyone think we can get spice a niche in the new HAM revamp. They're talking about introducing the Specials Layer again, so what if spice affected that layer somehow? Rather than a HAM buff, spice could be a Specials buff. Add more to it, regen it faster, something. Give spice something chef foods don't do, therefore making a market for the stuff.

Actually, the way I read the small bit of info posted I'm a bit concerned that there will be a pile of spice (& food) rendered even more useless then before. We really need them to get to part two of the discussion where they explain how buffs would work under the new system, because I have a hard time seeing how the secondaries that now lower ham cost on specials would interact with a system that separates "damage" from specials and has that damage regen rate increased by design.

It would be cool to get a spice that affects the regen rate of the specials bar..

That being said, I'm holding out on making any final opinions till more details are revealed. They didn't say anything about what the current secondary stats are going to be related to.. wether it'll be the same as it is currently or not. I think they could pretty well keep it all the same if they do a major medic/doc/cm nerf at teh same time. Heals are buffs are way overpowered at the moment.

First they are going to get the core combat plans implemented, then they are going to start hitting all the consumables, the PU's, Weapons, Foods, and Spice. Just my thought on it. I however am very excited about this, i'm sick and tired of having to spend over a million creds ... if not more just to PvP. Its a little ridiculous.

I wouldn't expect to be spending much less... they can't nerf /all/ the "consumables" otherwise they wouldn't have a game because so many professions rely on supplying those consumables.

My worry is not that consumables don't play a role in pvp anymore, but its that they remove any diversity taht still exists from the consumables business by removing the usefulness of some types of buffs. Spices are already in a situation where there are only 2 remotely worth using. Its a sad state of affairs that while I would love to get better even more then that I don't want to see any other professions (chefs, entertainers, docs) get lowered into the same sorry state.

I think I read in there somewhere that the secondaries were going to be looked at, but serve just about the same purpose. The one that determines the regen rate would still work the same, but the Specials regen rate would be higher than the damage regen rate. Also, the one that helps cut the amount of HAM used by specials should work the same as well. It's the major buffs we can get now that throws this all off.

What I was going for was maybe Doc Buffs (to a lesser degree than now) and Foods affect the Damage HAMs (Main HAMS) and Spice could affect the Specials HAMs (Secondaries). Gives all three a place in the scheme of things.
