Hi guys, its teh first time ive posted here, and after reading through a lot of whats put up here i sorta get teh feeling Smugglers are taken too much for granted so i was wondering about sorting some sort of universal slicing price that we all could stick too. I mean of coarse people will compete for buisness etc by charging less but if teh majority of Smugglers had a unified pricing scheme it would help us all out a lot =)
Just an idea, pls tell me to go away and Feign Death if needed =)

I'm all for it, but I think monitoring it will be too hard.
We're offering a service. Even a bad slice is still better than what it was before. I can tolerate varying prices much more than hearing "ah, it's not a very good slice, no charge". That aggrivates me to no end.
Anyway, back to topic, the problem is much larger than you think. Factions, guilds, friends, both in game and in r/l affect slicing prices. I myself use three different prices depending on who I'm slicing for. i'd be willing to adhere to a set list if we could get organized, but too often I think people would just do what they want, and offer cheap slices to their friends. And, if that's the case, a lot of players would just wait a day or two until their friends are online and go get a slice from them as opposed to shelling out major cash to someone else.
Another problem is organizing prices. Doctors seem to have come to a general consensus that buffs are going to be 8-12K, depending on supply/demand, and 15K if they are the only supply. I have seen slices from 1K to 5K, and even some based on slice percentages.
If we can all get on the same page, that'd be great, but i really don't see it happening.

yeah its easy to set a price, but to have everyone following that set price will be the hardest part. Not evryone reads the forums

Well if we could get Master Smugglers oneach server to come together then it could work. As far as a set price for every server, I don't think that would work. Economies vary and 10k might be hard to sell on my server but pretty easy on others. People want master slices and guilde and friends aside if there was a set price that all Master smugglers on the server adhered to it could work. It would really help if we could call the type of slice we gave. But until then I am not sure we could slice without alot of gripes from the public at a price they seem is to high.

According to SOE about 20 % of the SWG players read these forums, or parts of it anyways.

I charge 5k for slice and 40k per comp suit or armor and 30k for ubese. They end up saving a little this way than having me slice each on individually. Most people are fine with the prices but I've seen some complain about a 100$/% and others think thats its too expensive. I normally give newbies it a bit cheaper and mass orders I give quite a few freebies (one guy asked for 30 items sliced, I dropped price from 5k per slice to 3.3k per slice.)
The only problem I see with 100$/% is that we have NO control over the slices. Its not really a fair motion that we get random paydays. If I sliced at 40% all the time, no problem. But what about the occasional 15% and 22%?
Everyone, just make them pay a flat fee, saves the rest of us some trouble.

I charge 5k a slice.
I have also put this information in my bio, so that potential customers know what to pay and I don't have to explain stuff over and over again. I take 5k no matter what the slice or the outcome.
Also, putting information in your bio makes other smugglers see what you're charging. If other smugglers take this up it would help unify the price more. Of course they can use this info to underbid you; but so what - that just gives me less of a hassle.
(And if I want even less hassle I'll just up my price - and that certainly is possible.)

I personnally charge 4k a slice, and just from teh few responces to this post id say that charging 4-5k is fairly reasonable and lets me honest a rather large percentage for profit. Im on Farstar so if any smugglers reading this want to contact me (Poons) on there and discuss futher about roighly unified sharging rates then feel free. Id say that this fee makes us feel we are being appreciated enough for the vital services we provide =P
