We need advancement beyond master!

Who here hasn't felt the onset of boredom at somepoint after you reach master(please
don't say Jedi is the answer...I am a jedi...my template is complete and the game
is fast becoming boring and repetitive)

I propose a system that allows advancement beyond master by allowing players to buy
more skill points with experience, badges, and quests. Reward those who play!

For example, your a TKM and have been for months your getting BORED...it would be
nice for your continued play to be rewarding and we all know credits don't mean a
whole lot. So we change the xp caps to allow you to accumulate 5 million xp at
master. You can then exchange those 5 million xp for 5 skillpoints. The next level
after master you have to get 10 million xp and do a quest and you get 5 skillpoints.
The possible coinage for such a system could badges, xp, quests or any combination.

With this type of system you can add skills to your character, levels beyond master
don't have to just add skill points they could add resists, damage, etc.

Please, SOE! part of any good game is the thrill of increasing power and skill.
Allow the player base to continue to advance or people will definately find other
games that will.

I know the first cry will be BALANCE, folks let me state for all or you who haven't
figured it out. BALANCE IS A SHAM, IT CAN NOT BE DONE AND SHOULD NOT BE A GOAL! The
reasons are varied. There is no reason a TKM with 2 days work should beat a TKM that
plays for months(the investment of time and effort should mean something). In fact,
in most cases they will not because the vetran player knows how to play BETTER! Yes,
people sometimes there is someone out there who is just plain BETTER...and its OK..
really relax you don't have to be uber from day 1.

SOE PLEASE GIVE US ADVANCEMENT BEYOND MASTER!

So, you're suggesting some type of leveling system, whereby experience would translate into more skill points or extra skills/defenses/HAM bars? Many games apply that system, and it works pretty well, but implementing it would take some time and probably a lot of griping, and can lead to other problems.

I agree that balance is probably never going to be a reality, if only because the answers to some balancing questions are swinging the mighty nerf bat around. Having said that, balance will probably fall farther away from us, as players who have a lot time to spend in game will become very high level characters.

That has pros and cons in a pvp system. In playing asheron's call back in the day, I recall the pvp server there a great imbalance with end-game level characters who really had no challenge against other players, and could do most quests solo.

It's a bit of a double edged sword. Sure, for a while leveling up and having many skill points and many jobs can keep people entertained, but at some point, it will again get boring.

The problem with systems like that is that the game just becomes one big grind. I know, I've fallen into a state where I'm pretty much adicted to grinding. You end up loosing site of the game and just logging on to grind, which is a really sad state of affairs. What I think really needs to happen is the game needs some actual content. Content that is fun and has great replay value; hopefully we'll see this in the large GCW revamp that's coming eventually, and indeed with any further quests they add to the game (although I'm somewhat doubtful about that one).

I would however be in favour of a verteran reward system of some sort. Say, for example, you stay master of a profession for so many months and get an extra bonus to it.

I also think that stacking as a whole really needs to be reduced, if not removed entirely, and that reaching master should give a much larger bonus than it does currently; this in my view will make balancing the game a much more attainable prospect and make the upcoming combat revamp more successful

Oh boy..then lets wait 3 months while someone grinds billions of experience and becomes a master everything. Granted, it may or may not take longer than that, but it could happen. Even if they aren't master everything, there's a reason i think people can't become master in some professions together..it'd probably be sickly unbalancing.

Like the other people said here, we just need content to play not content to grind.
