Was it SOE or TH who lied to us repeatedly about the CB?
Was it SOE or Haden Blackman who said he was sorry IF he made us think there was a smuggler revamp coming?
Was it SOE or Raph Koster who thought we should have brawlers in this game?
And so on, and so on. I think you draw too fine a line between SOE and the devs.

It's really SOE we should direct our complaints to. And now I hear they are moving the development team? Now, call me paranoid, because I am, but EA pulled the same stunt with Earth and Beyond. The difference is EA started to torpedo their game almost from the get go, finally canceling it even though it was still making a profit. Now unless SoE suddenly picked up some people who used to work for EA, they still care enough about the money, if not the players, so my paranoia is misfounded.
But I digress. Our anger should really be directed at the publishers, not the devs. They try damned hard, and can only work with what their bosses give them. Believe me, I'm used to broken promises, EA did that to the EB player base all the time, so this is nothing new to me..I just expected more from Sony (hah). But, I love my smuggler, just like I loved my pirate trader (hmm I just noticed the similarities between my characters.....
