Firstly, hello, and goodbye,
I've been a Master Smuggler for the last 3 months,
and have now quit the game for all the normal reasons.
(Smugg, pistoller no use, no light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel etc).

my 2p's worth on slice:

First, do away with the current reb/blue system,
make it so that the slicer has 5 goes at an item,
and needs to get 3 right to get a slice,
if they get 4, the slice is better,
if they get 5, they get to choose what is sliced.

Assign every item a difficulty level, and only
allow a slice 4 goes at an item a bit above there
level, 3 goes at one a bit harder and 2 or 1 (ie cant
get a slice) on harder items.

Novice Smuggler - can slice all CDEF's, and weapons used
by novice brawler / marksman, and those by lvl-1 brawl/marks.

Slice-1 - can slice terminals. Plus all weapons used by pitol-2, one-handed-2 etc

Slice-2 can slice all weapons to level-3, plus can open mag-lock containers/doors etc (eg the doors in the geo-cave)

Slice-3 can slice all weapons to level-4, plus bone/chitin/padded/(the armour type i cant remember worn by Lando in'jedi)

Slice-4 Can slice all weapons that need Advanced Professions, plus Ubase and Comp.

Master Smuggler Can now do all weapons, incl those that need skills in the adv. proff tree (eg Geo Pistol) and can slice Faction Armour.

That'd keep things intersting, while still providing customers for lower-level slicers (eg, slice-2 can slice a Scout Blaster as well as a Master).
