k well sort of adding to this thread in a round about way.. i can slice thats it.. 0 4 0 0 and i suck.. slices are mostly between 11 and 21% with i reckon most being around 16%.. all i can say is what a messed up profession/game.. it tells me there is no modifiers for master in the game or instructions anywhere.. but there are apparently... kinda' explaining why my slices are whack,

so can someone verify for me what the max slices i can achieve at this level and also whether any of the tools resources/qualities actually matter.?

I'll refer you to the Smuggler Forum's "Smuggler FAQ" by Smuggler_Caylin, former correspondant and all around scoundrel. http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=smuggler&message.id=101271 I'd put it in CLICKY form but I screwed up...see next post lol

And in case you don't want to click that, here are the ranges, I think I was off on the effectiveness at Master...

Slicing 4

  • Weapon: 10-30% Speed or Damage

  • Armor: 5-30% Effectiveness

  • Armor:15-40% Encumbrance

Master Smuggler:

  • Weapon: 15-35% Damage or Speed

  • Armor: 11-35% Effectiveness

  • Armor: 20-45% Encumbrance

As far as tool quality? NO! NO NO NO NO NO! It does not effect the slice one bit. It is completely and totally 100% random. You have a 50% chance of speed or damage on weapons and 50% chance of effectiveness or encumbrance on armor. The percent of the slice is also totally random between the given ranges and if you do a lot of testing, I believe the statistics show a Bell Curve effect (likely to be many more 25% slices on weapons at master than 15 or 35 percent). The same goes for spices, resource quality does not matter.

Hope that answers your questions.

Someone told me today that you get a weapon/armor slice bonus at master, currently i'm 0-4-0-1, (aspiring to be master) I haven't read nor have I noticed that there is "said" bonus. Is this true?

That'scorrect.

You get 5% more on speed and damage slices bringing your cap from 30% to 35%

You get 5% more on effectiveness slices to bring your cap from 35% 40%

You get a 10% more on encumbrances to bring your cap from 35% to 45%

Lots and lots of first-hand experience, plus a few(rare) dev posts in these forums.

Oh, and some advice to finish your Spices branch. ShadowPaw is the way to finish it out. 120 experience a pop, takes five units mineral(any), twenty-five units organic(any). Plus, if you got a CH friend, let him use ShadowPaw as a pet treat, every time its consumed, you get around fourty experience points.
