Thread: Is it worth mastering smuggler?

I had high hopes of being a master shipwright and also a master smuggler, until I calculated up the xp points needed.

What I want to know is if it is worth my while to master smuggler or just complete the slicing and dirty fighting trees. I do not see much use for spice with the buffs today and the underground tree in not very usfull either unless you are factioned.

Currently I have mastered artisan and am over half way through the two smuggler trees mentioned. If nessisary I can drop master artisan and the clothing branch to get the underworld branch. Ofcourse that does not leave much room for any merchant.

All I have to say is that there is now way to be a hybrid combat class and a craftsman with the current structure.

All ideas are welcome.

Bini: Pre-NGE Light Jedi (MLS, ME, 4xx4 Healer) now a clvl 90 Jedi
Bindi: Pre-NGE Master Riflewoman\Master Bounty Hunter now a clvl 90 Smuggler
Binhi: Post NGE Officer (currently lvl 56)
The NGE brought two things to the game: empty cantinias and a flood of Jedi.

Since you're not interested in Spice (not that that matters ATM) and you're not factioned, for you mastering Smuggler will only bring you bonuses to Slicing. So, if you're going to be Slicing for cash, you'll definitely want Master Smuggler, otherwise it seems you really wouldn't need it so much. Note that this could change if we ever see a revamp.

I'd go with what you think will be the most fun. Its obvious you've thought about it, and I agree with your assessment of the lines you mentioned. I'd go after the master shipwright because I think you will find the experience more rewarding. Smuggler is just too broken to keep anyone but the hardcore smugglers in it right now, in my opinion. But if you are truly a smuggler in your heart, then go for it.

My 2 cents.

As mentioned above, the best slices are from Master Smuggler of course. Ultimately - what do you like doing? Crafting or Fighting? If you're looking for something to straddle the two, I'm not sure Smuggler is the productive answer. You may be better off going with a crafting skill and a complementary combat skill (such as an armorsmith with rifles and scouting to get your own hides etc).

Anyway, good luck!

You're not going to be an effective combatant with just smuggler. Without some Elite or Hybrid combat lines, Dirty-Fighting just doesn't do it (without any mods, you're basically a 4-boxApprentice Pistoleer). So I wouldn't bother with Smuggler just for that, unless you'd like to use the Feign skill until it's nerfed into oblivion. In that case, I'd say stick withDF1.The Slicing tree can be handy by itself, as long as you don't expectthe best slices. Underworld 1 opens up the Talus "Smuggler"mission-setfor JTL, although being part of Smugglers-Alliance opens up a bunch of other ones that are pretty much the same.

Not to forget that /sarcastic remark 3 is only availailible to masters...

Honestly if you want to do some combat... dont get smuggler. And slices arent worth it without the master title if you want to slice for others.
