Thread: An idea for a unique combat role for Smugglers

Just an Idea to bounce off you guys, GM, and your fearless Corr.

Since the Droid Invasion Patch we have seen an influx of medium to high lvl Droid MoBs

Smugglers relying on their pistol or unarmed skills are stuggling to find a role in combatting these droids due to high Armor Ratings and very focused resistances on said MoBs.

Recently Droids (MoBs and Player contolled automations eg. combat droids and At-St's) have been rendered immune to states and poison/disease.

Perhaps Smugglers could find a unique role in taking on these automations with their slicing skills

Maybe add in smuggler only specials that inflict states on droids and vehicles.

My favorite Idea is to place several new schematics in the Slicing tree - Viruses, Worms, and Restraining Bolts.

Viruses will work with slicing components and allow the smuggler to apply them in melee combat with droids and vehicles - a successful application would cause a "poison"

Worms would be very similar to Viruses except apply a "disease"

Restraining bolts would be items crafted with the help of specialized DE components and slicing components - the end result would be similar to a trap or combat medic attack eg. thrown onto the droid/vehicle. These different restraining bolts would inflict a particular state on the droid.

I think that this idea would give smugglers a good role in high end content (DWB and Corvette) where taking down droids is a primary battle focus.

Very cool idea. I think since it can be thrown the restraining bolt would be very popular.

Great idea. Anything that makes slicing something more than another "bot" function.

Eh. I like it, but it sounds like something that belongs more in the Droid Engineer profession. Perhaps they could get a better version and we could get a lower version (like mitigation1 for us and 3 for them)

That would be cool running up to a Super Battle Droid and sticking a restraining bolt on 'em.
