I have been wondering... If I pay to have an unlocked

container sliced. I.E. I get said item to a smugler to slice

it for me.

Is it possible for a smuggler to steal the items in it and

replace it with inferior items?

It has alyways been a question of mine...

You guys have me worried lol...

Yes, it is possible. Stay with smugglers you can trust for containers, but 99% of the time loot in a container is useless.

It is possible for a smuggler to take the items in the container before returning them, however there are two things to consider:

1) Despite being the "criminals" of SWG, smugglers have to be the most trustworthy profession in the game because so many of the services we offer require the customer hand over valuable equipment with the risk of it being stolen. If we get a reputation for stealing, we get no more business, so we all promote honest dealings.

2) There's usually nothing good in a container anyway, so if you get back one that has crap or even one that's empty, it was most likely what was originally in it. Personally, when I was slicing containers, I didn't even look, just handed it back and then asked out of curiosity.

Well said...I never look into a container and if one is empty i tell them immediately.

If you look into a container then your looking to steal.

The only reason I ever looked in a container was to see if there was another container inside, sppeds up the slicing and trading. If there was a tape or something in it I usually told the customer there was something nice inside.

Very well said Renn.

But on the paying to open containers...that may soon change. I don't remember which smuggler posted that when testing on either TC2 (Bria) or TC3 (Corbantis) they looted 84 containers in just a weeks time. You may soon be slicing more containers than weapons or armor.

If it turns out that the drop rate increases exponentially and it is no longera problem for the novice to find their own 20, I would seriously consider opening containers not just for friends (still at no charge) but also start slicing containers for the general public for a fee. With the changes of the loot kits and items that you can craft from looted items (even from low level NPCs), the player base may soon find it worthwile to pay to have a container opened on a regular basis. Just some food for thought...
