K just thought that I'd throw this out there and see if it sticks...
Currently trying to fill three trees of senses xp (as they were unlocked before I knew better and dont want to waste the unlocks) so went ahead and tried the kill rez heal rinse repeat grind... now I'm no stranger to monotonous grinds as I've mastered architecht, armorsmith, weaponsmith, and doctor just to name a few..... but this one was just unbearable especially at a 10:1 trade in ratio. So I started looking around trying to build a better template for grinding senses and combat prowess and stumbled on that slicing was a tradein of 3:1 with a similar cap out on XP as doc 0400.
Well long story short went and built a template of master commando, smuggler 0440, and tka 4000. That way I still have enough leftover points for the 24 boxes to fill and still whoop tail whenever I feel like whether I'm grinding or not. Able to grind nades, slice my wares, have full meditationetc.....
My question is I was wondering if anyone has tried grinding slicing for senses xp, ie a ton of survival knives with a ton of weapon upgrade kits, knives, and clamps.... something that you can chuck into the bin and not worry bout deleting it to make room for more stuff to slice. Maybe find a base to that you grind on since they give 1000 xp per slice (read that somewhere think it was the smuggler forum) and while waiting for the cool down do more knives at 250 xp per. Is this a realistic grind? Anyone ever try this? Am I just plain 24 carrot crazy for thinking of doing this?

I looked at the numbers when they finally put in the Slicing XP conversion, and it is absolutely rediculous how many weapons you'd slice just to fill one box, much less the whole tree. If you try this, better buy several meeses (mices? mouses?) and a new arm because you'll break the buttons and get carpal-whatever-it-is doing it.

Do it now if you're gonna do it... looks like slicing XP is going the way of the dodo if the TC5/CU skill trees are in any way accurate.

Crates of Survivial Knifes, Clamps, WUKsand Laser Knifes and a lot of boring hours in Aurellia and youll be done. Thankfully Luck is the only senses tree worth having for me because I will never repeate the "slice grind" and im not interested in Jedi. Still would you not have been better posting this on the FS forum? Most profession tourists get abused
Ovbiously if your a true Smuggler you would have all the tools you would need and then some on your vendors or in storage anyway to make it pretty painless and cost effective but hey
Just messing, to me it seemed the best way to get the Luck tree and the fastest I'd do it when your server population is low though so that the slices go faster due to server load/lag issues.

Actually no I'm not a profession "tourist" as you mentioned but you're right and did post it there but didnt see that much of a response tho. As for all the components my alt is a master WS/AS so those arent a problem, nor are resources. IOW much cheaper than buying rez packs. Cool thanks for letting me know that I'm not nuts

yeah i did the math one time though it escapes me at the moment
think of it this way there is only 250 xps for slicing one item and its 1/3 for fs xps so you get roughly 83.3 fs points per item sliced and you need like 1.4 mil or something crazy per line so thats a lot of weapons. for a while i was attempting it but seriously it not worth it.

I am currently doing this as well...and
its horrible!
But i also dropped tka, and picked up artisan and survey 1. That way when your out, you can at least run the sample macro to get "some" xp.
But, in the long run...well
This is a grind of all grinds

I did the branch in 3 weeks slicing and AFK dancing. You can slice while you run the dance macro.
BTW In light of the yet another delay in the Smuggler Revamp, I'm really glad I decided to drop my Master Smuggler and go for Jedi. I'm 0044 Lightsaber and having a blast.... Much more fun then the broken promisesthat is theSmuggler profession. I was aSmuggler from launch and waited 18 months for something to happen. Instead all that happened was our spices became worthless because of doctor buffs and the chef revamp.

I kept my Master Smuggler, but made a Jedi on another server. Now I want my Master Smuggler on the same server, and he can't be transferred because he's glowy (that's another rant about making the one thing so easy to do that +90% of the people who actually play the game would get to that point almost accidentally and so would not get to use the transfer function) so I'm having to do it all over again.

I am currently doing this to gain my senses xp. and let me tell you ..... IT IS A LONNNNNGGGG ROAD.
for every 400 slices( of weapon / armor) you get to take a trip upto the village to trade in your Slicing XP for 33k FS Senses xp.
4 boxes will take 1225000 FS xp ... thats 37 full trips to cash in xp... which equals 14,848 slices.
I have 3 boxes done so far.. and my fingers are numb. and its taken me 4 phases to get to where I am in senses

I thought that just for kicks I'd cash in my slicing xp for senses and not grind it as I was lucky enough to have a holo unlock I threw into luck. After over a month of me being fully searchable, wearing my master smuggler tag, and doing at least one or two slices every time I touched down on a planet... I don't even have the first box.
Combat xp which I have been grinding in the same time frame because I love to blow stuff up, is nearly banked up enough for 3 trees.
In the time it takes you to slice fourty some odd thousand items for all three trees you probably could've gone and done three more phases, not gained a glowing hatred of slicing, and done something to earn cash in the mean time.

Yep I got persuassion, want to get luck but the time it takes to gain XP this way is enough to discourage me, I think I may have to pick up Scout and start using Mask Scent were ever I go.

You'll need 16807 each of weapons, WUKs and Clamps + a few extra incase you screw up on or two rushing to press buttons, considering it takes around 600 for the grind to slicing 4 and that only took me around 24hrs to complete incl running around buying crates. It should take you around 700 hours to complete, exactly one month of nothing but slicing 24 hrs a day 7 days a week
