Thankyou : )

We've often spoken of wanting to have a criminal underworld. Well, a friend and I have actually figured out a way to do that in a very small way. Basically, we've created a small POI type of thing out of a Large Tatooine house. The house itself is decorated in such a way to appear to be a sleazy bar with several adjoining rooms. The overall concept of course is that sort of mob 'hangout' feel seen on the Sopranos or Donnie Brasco.

So, we have a cool looking 'Underworld' place now. But the place has no real function. I'm a bit utilitarian myself. So although I really liked the place it bothered me that there was really no function for it. This problem was lurking in the back of my mind along with the plethora of other abstract things that SWG sometimes fails to deliver.

And strangley, on a completely different topic, it had occured to the two of us that Radiant is notably undersliced and that we smugglers are also not getting enough business. Our first idea to quell this problem was to organize our labor. But after much discussion, we decided that although we're both pro-labor in RL, in fake life were much more of the 'lone gunman' type, like Gross Pointe Blank! That being said, we put two and two together and started rolling on a plan to turn the 'underworld bar' into a player run POI of sorts. This would allow Radiants slicing needs to be directly fulfilled from a central location. And of course, we'd be big, bad criminals! Really, the skies the limit on this one. For the most part that's because there's no system for it yet. It will only be as possible as your time permits.

So, my question then is, would you the Radiant smuggler:
A) Appreciate an underworld POI that breaths a bit of life into the game? Not to mention that as underworlds go, the axis of power could easily move and shift. By proposing my house for the first slicing/underworld POI does not neccessarily mean that shoul be the only one! If a thing of this sort were to workout, I'd love to see a 'gangland' slaying or two.
B) Be willing to help shape the format of such a thing? By format I mostly mean schedules and such and the overall RPing/business-like feel to the operation. Although we're not trying to build a 'slice shack' like the buffshacks that doctors have been setting up, it would be an honest shame if my friend and I tried to get this rolling only to find the POI consistently empty of slicing help. In particular, were not proposing this in order to be constrained to one house for the entirety of our gameplay. I personally can't imagine such a POI being available 24/7. Who knows... that's what I need the rest of you dirty-rotten-criminals to help me out with : )

Real quick, I realize that a post of this sort will most likely generate one of two responses. There will be people that will be happy to do business in an easier fashion. Not to mention this will significantly cut down on the StarPort macro-Hawking that's become so annoying. And those are the people I would like to work with in the future. But then there will also be the people that feel that any form of cooperation or incorporation will diminish the 'criminality' of our chosen proff. I can only say to those people that I play for around two hours out of the day. Although I would love to be called the galaxies 'kingpin', I wholeheartedly expect someone with a lot more time and energy to take that sort of position. This POI (feel free to tell me if there's a better name for it than that btw) is really only meant to fill in for the lack of a real underworld and to make any artificially created underworld a fun and socialable place to visit. This is not a grab for power or an attempt to standardize pricing or anything of that sort (remember when the Armorsmiths did that back in the first year?).

And I'd love to bring this idea to the BH forum for the obvious criminal socializing element. Then there's the Entertainer's forum, there might be a few entertainers that wouldn't mind the pure RPing feel of a thing like this. And, if this thing could begin to work as a POI, the WeaponSmith and ArmorSmith forums would be a logical next step. Any and all business could be easily diverted to a single place if it were helpful to the smith and slicer alike. If it were unhelpful I suppose that one or the other party would not participate : )

As you can see, we're really excited about this but will need some help making it a reality. So, feel free to chat it up in here. PM me or send an email in game if you'd like. I'm Lucius Decumius in game btw. And if possible, lets try and find a way to make this work!

Thanks again Smugglers!

I just started turning my shop into a seedy little bar... but I wouldn't mind spending time in another one... Always good to have multiple hideouts and multiple contacts.

Shoot me an email in game and we can talk. Who knows, maybe we can combine forces in a way.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I'm not on Radiant, and most likely never will be, but kudos to you for pushing for something that sounds like it could be cool

Sounds cool, email the waypoint to Hauke on the radiant server, I'd like to stop by and check it out.
