I was a long time smuggler off and on since about 3 months after release. I left smuggler and the game for about 8 months due to more broken promises. Green Marine came in here with enthusiam about fixing smuggler but althought I dont blame him I know that SOE just wouldnt let it happen. I know there have been countless ideas about helping smugglers out and I dont want to rehash any of those, but I wanted to discuss smuggler's "market" in the in game economy.
Baically BH's have the "slicing" market it seems since they are the ones who get most fo the smuggler loot cutting deeply into what we used to do. I was thinking that when we do get smuggling missions, our loot would have to be something worthwhile that people would want, so I was thinking of what markets were available. Someone may have reccomended this idea before and if so I apologize.
I was thinking that smugglers could possilby be the primary providers TSE's or temporary skill enhancers.
Since dancer and musicians have the market locked up in terms of crafting skill enhancers, perhaps smugglers can provide TSE's that are consumables and last for a certain duration.. these could theoretically be stacked but only of skill enhancers of different types.
We all know that people spend countless hours trying to obtain CA's and AA's to cap out their skills, and that the current combat system leaves room for such extra modifications. Why no remove CA and AA drops all together and instead provide temporary enhancements which are much more widely avalable to the general populace.
The idea is tht someone might bealbe to consume +25 melee defense, +25 ranged defense +25 speed TSE's all at the same time to give them the same benefits that someone who might have uber clothing attachments would have. These TSE's could come in all flavors and be obtained by doing smuggler missions.

keep the CAs and AAs, those are permanent and would cause a lot of people millions in cash lost...
We already HAVE enhancers, if you look at spice, but specific enhancements like weapon speed, general defense and accuracy would be nice to see in new spices.
Specific loots for crafters would be a good way to go, make it so locked magseal containers can finally be opened and they would almost always generate a rare, uber weapon or armor components to make better than average stuff.
If not, make it so smugglers have an innate ability to generate better loot when grouped with someone, like the ranger mods have for creature harvesting, smugglers should have for loot, more and better stuff!
THEN people will be DYING to invite you to all teh partays!

Sure you can keep existing CA's and AA's but i figured we could have them stop dropping to make a market for these. Also we as smugglers we might even be able to smuggle in decayable lightsaver parts that could make Post-CU jedi lighsabers as powerful as pre-cu ones.

And no to the stop of CAs and AAs, like I said, make spice affect more than base stats or make new items resembling spice that does this or make it so smugglers have a MUCH better chance to loot/find these types of items than any other class. That would make us more improtant and give us the market edge to balance out the hold BHs have on us due to the smuggling components
(besides, I got LOTS of elite lvl slicing components, there are tons of BHs looting and selling parts, but there are NOT that many people gathering mid lvl components like fine toolsets or absorbant padding or trando intraframes. Sure, my huge stack of mano intraframes gets me a lot of elite slices, but unless I have a trando frame to use first it's still useless. At this point, I pay less for an elite BH lootable comp. than I do a mid lvl lootable stuff..)
