Now that we have the ability to use specials with any of our weapons, I have seen some mention on these boards of using "root" on multiple targets at the same time.
Now forgive me if I missed it anywhere, but how is this done? From what I read it looks like some Commando skills are involved in this. Is there a particular weapon that is used? I mostly play PVE and would love to use this a a tactic in dealing with multiple targets.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of an AoE root shot. I use stopping shot alternated with concussion to root 2 at a time.

You can do concusion shot with a flame thrower and it might root the ppl it catches in it's cone, just depends if they resist it or what not. My guildy was doing it during double xp week

yes, take a commando aoe weapon (i.e. flamer) and use a root shot, or any status shot for that matter, and it has a chance to effect all in it's cone. Now if only this worked with an LLC.....

are you talking PvE or PvP cause I am Master Smuggler and Master Carbs and I was put hunting NS's and got a little to close and had to root 3 of them trying to get away and then though hmmmmm they cannot move and took down all three while keeping them rooted and 45m away lol oh plz don't nerf us again

Concussion + Commando 0003. Max range rooting of all enemies within the area of effect... with what certainly seems like a very slim chance of failure. Which essentially means the Smuggler/Commando in question can act as the parties tank against multiple enemies from 65m away, which is a pretty nifty trick. (Some critters seem to HATE having states applied to them so FD is your friend when you realize you just ticked off the entire lair and their roots are wearing off (Its much harder to reapply each time, or at least it seems much harder))

Use a commando weapon with concusion shot.......if you line them all up correctly you can root all the enemies in you LOS and raduis. I think that a knockdown will break the root though.

It'd be cool if the Quickshot was an AoE...
For those of us not blessed with Commando, if you have a ranged KD special, like underhand, root the first mob, KD the second, then root the second, and repeat for the rest of the mobs. It works pretty damn well.

I started m.smuggler/m.commando before I respeced commando to pistoleer so from experiance, yes. Yes you can root multiple targets at once. I'm still novice commando just to abuse this. If things start getting ugly I whip out my trusty lag pistol and start alternating concussion/stopping shot and burst run the hell out of there.

hey ya i think its some sort of timer for when you can reapply a root.. 45 seconds perhaps?
