Ok, this is something i've been thinking about since seeing the profession calcs which include the new Jedi trees.

Jedis have a luck skill. It is increased per skill box. Ok, i understand this... it kind of suggests that the force favours a jedi. And of course it means you have more chance to get your own pearls, crystals etc without having to have a millionaire alt.

The thing that grates me, being a smuggler, is why we dont have a "luck" skill like Jedis. Of all the professions in SWG, surely smugglers are the perfect example of lucky gits!!! But if smugglers are meant to be lucky then im borked! I have never so much as looteda decent DOT weapon (notice i said decent) let alone a crystel, pearl or skill tape. My loot is ALWAYS **edit**e!!!!! ALWAYS.

What do you guys think about smugglers having luck?

I think…you're not fighting the right things. I tested Jedi Luck on TC2 briefly…it's really not all that great. If that what they want to give Smugglers, no thanks. I've seen too many cool in theory, useless in practice abilities handed out as a way of brushing off serious fixes that need to be made to even consider talking about something like this.

Most of the universe's problems can be solved by the application of a brick to the side of the right head.
The problem is if you don't have a big enough brick or can't find the right head. The devil is in the details.

For the most part, my loot has been... well... none. I've become accustomed to seeing the "You find nothing..." message when I loot. When I do find something, "WooHoo! A wood staff!". /destroy

One of the big premises for this game is player-made items ARE the 'loot'. Any items you loot from NPCs are just basically gravy. Of course, like most of their other good ideas, the whiners have had it demolished into a ghost of its former self and now loot is REQUIRED for many of the better player-made items, so yes.. I agree a way to loot better items should be implemented to more than just their 'darling profession'.

Hey, I don't even necessarily want better loot. It could effect my encounters in some way too. It could affect my interaction with NPC's. In fact, it should be remade to be like Karma. The more you dodge the bullet, the worse it is when the bullet hits home. Just a random musing.

I think crafters should be able to break down loot items (such as broken electrobinocualrs and CDEF pistols) into component parts and/or resources. THEN theymight be worth something.

Jedi luck, according to the description, just gives a better chance of looting something. Not even a better chance of looking something good, just of looting anything at all. If they expanded the usefulness of the luck skill then that would be alright, but I think the Persuasion skill-mod would be cooler than Luck. At least with the Persuasion skill-mod they could adapt it to be useful during Smuggling missions to try and talk your way past authorities or get some extra credits out of your employer. When I think of Smugglers and Luck, I think of a Smuggler's uncanny ability to stay alive despite the odds, not their having a better chance of finding loot.

Persuasion all the way, says I!

Oh, and Havoc3060, as far as I know the Luck skill has no effect on Chance Cubes at all, but even if it does that's not the limit of the skill-mod's effect.
