Thread: Cannot seem to create schematics

Guys,
I'm sure it's something obvious, but for some reason I cannot seemto create schematics for smuggler items.
I am Master Smuggler and 3-2-4-3 Artisan. I'm trying to create Precision Laser Knives and Molecular Clamps. When I use my Generic Crafting tool it does not allow me to create a schematic. So I use a public or private weapon, droid and general crafting station thinking this will allow me to. It doesn't.
I don't understand this I'm afraid: I used to do this sort of thing in my sleep months ago when I was crafting as Master Doctor months ago.
Where am I going wrong?

Your problem is using the generic crafting tool. You need a Weapon, droid, etc crafting tool to get the experiment/schematic option while standing next to a crafting station.

You have to use the weapon, droid, etc...specialized crafting tool at a crafting station to be able to make a schem or experiment.

Thank you for your help, but it does not seem to have resolved the problem.
I crafted a Weapon, Droid and Generic Crafting tool, stood next to a weapon, droid and crafting station and tried this again.
It's goes through steps 1, 2, 3 & 6 but misses out step 4 & 5 of the crafting process.
Step 1: SelectDraft schematic
Step 2: Item assembly
Step 3: Crafting Summary
Step 6: Item Customisation
There is no option to choose to create a schematic (number 5 if I remember correctly as it come after the experimentation stage.
I'm now using only a WD&G tool and station. There are no other crafting stations near me or in the vicinity.
Is there a different tool station combination I should use?

hrm...that is weird...I just logged off and made a schem of Clamps and it worked fine before I logged off. I would say maybe you aren't standing close enough?....otherwise I am a lost bantha.

Has to be a private crafting station to which you have admin rights (or structure to which you have admin, I guess).
Also, be careful of the overlapping 'influence footprint' of different stations. If you have 3 in a small room, sometimes others will override the one you want.
I use food/chem crafting tool and stations all the time for drugs, WDG for plk's and molclamps.

that is probably it, when they changed the schematics the weapon,droid, gen tools could make, it changed the effective range of the crafting stations....stand in it, you should be fine lol

I wish I knew what it was that was causing it - just tried to log on tonight to create a schematic.
I stand inside the Weapon, Droid and General item crafting station (in my house of which I have admin rights and am declared residence)
I use a Weapon, Droid and General Item crafting tool (I was previously using a generic crafting tool)
I open the crafting tool, I get steps 1-3 & 6, but I don't get the option to create schematics (step 5?).
I had food and chemical crafting station that also was on the premises, so I moved it and put it in my safety deposit box.
I can't figure out what it is thats causing this. Can anyone help/suggest anything?

If the practice box is check are you still able to make a schematic?? For some reason I keep thinking that might the problem, I could be wrong tho.

I'm afraid that option appears in step 6 of 6 of the crafting process. But thanks for your suggestion all the same.

There is still kind of an annoying bug with the field of influence with crafting stations. If you are in a house with more than one type of station, your field may be off a little. When I had a small generic, I had placed my tool station in the back room but had to stand on the other side of the wall in the front room to actually be in the field. Apparently, my food/chem station warped the field just enough so I couldn't use it if I was in the same room. I don't know if that is your issue but worth checking out.

I contacted customer services about this, and they had a different explanation; they suggested that I had bugged the station by putting something in the inventory of the crafting station.
It isn't the case, but it's a different perspective. I do think it's a bug in this instance though. Maybe customer services can figure out what it was and this thread won't have been such a waste of time for you guys

try taking your weapon, droid, gen tool to a public crafting station in one of the static cities, or even one at a friends house that they have used before...if it works and lets you craft a schem, then you know its your station thats bugged..if it still doesnt, might try making a new tool. just a thought.
