Thread: An Odd pattern I have noticed with slicing.

I am the first to admit Im a bit of a newbie to slicing. For a year Ive made my own weapons and had someone else do it for me, but I have since grinded through professions and after gaining master pistoleer, I went on to get master smuggler.

I have seen statistics on slices posted by people here. I cant remember the post but one guy recorded about 5000 slices and never got a 35% slice.

Well when I began slicing the other night I was Master Smuggler / Master Pistoleer.

Out of every crate of 25 i would get 4 or 5 30% + slices, I had 2 35% slices and innumerable 34% ones. It was rarer to get a < 20% slice than to get a >25%

I sliced about 400 weapons.

After giving up all pistol skills but retaining Master Smuggler, the slices seem to have really gone down in quality. I get 2 30% + slices now in a batch of 50 and that wasnt the case when I was master pistoleer.

So it begs the question:

Does being a master pistoleer aid slicing?

It seems that I was definitely slicing better the night I gained the skill to now. Or is there another factor Ive overlooked?

Respectfully,

I think the one factor you overlooked is luck, and that's what gave you the results. I've been a master smuggler for almost a year now (11 months), and have been keeping track of slicing for about 8 months. I have sliced a staggering amount of weapons and armor. I've been a master armorsmith, a master weaponsmith, a master TKA, a master commando, and a master pistoleer (among others). I didn't notice being able to slicea flamer when I was a commando or a dx2now that I'm a pistoleer. It's also been theorized that you slice weapons better when you are a master weaponsmith. That isn't true either.

It's all random. It really is. You had a string of really good luck.

Rory B. (L.S. & 2.S.B.?) man it's an honor I've visited your shop a lot. Would love to meet you and sit down for a drink.

Maybe the "luck" has something to do with your secondary profession gives you special insight into the slicing. So for example being a Master Smug/Commando you'd get higher slices in Flamethrowers for example.

Just a theory...

Can that be true? I am a master armorsmith/smuggler, when I slice weapon, all in general pistol or FT i got like 5% of 30+ the rest is like in the 20. However, just recently, when I slice armor, I got 45% for like 30% of all my slice.

Kinda weird

Slicing is random!! Or at least as close to random as they can make it. I have gone on strings of slicing weapons for 30+% and then done a few below 20% slices. You do go on streaks sometimes but its all randomluck.

Dont forget that people made the code for the game and they arent gonna waste there time making all kinds of special circumstances that would effect the outcome of a slice when they can just make it random like they say it is. They would tell you of suck a perk if they did do that. They arent gonna do a bunch of work and just not say anything about it.

My slicing is all over. Completly random. Was the same for the ppl that sliced for me and when I slice for myself.

Though i've never seen a 35% dmg slice, but that may have to do with the fact i've sliced about 100 weapons in total.

"Does being a master pistoleer aid slicing?"

No. Only slicing skill aids slicing.
