As a smuggler with no other combat skills, this is pretty much it. There is also Last Ditch which has worked about 30% of the time for me. But, that is more of a desperation luck of the draw move than an actual combat role.

smuggler is far more tha just a daze. Test out a few of the other specials we have and I think you will be quite pleased. We get a suite of specials that can make us one of the most feared opponents in group PvP and a valued group member in coordinated PvE

And if you have BH in your template also... you can do /underhandshot, /concussionshot, /endduel, /rofl

People simply hate it when you do that... it's sooo fun to do to jedi in bestine / theed / Dant MO, etc. that spam /duel to everyone who walks by.

Honestly, depends on what your secondary profession is. Everyone knows we don't have the "crowd control" capability we're supposed to. Not only that, but you get better control out of one tree of Pistoleer than you do all of Smuggler. Unless you call FD or suicide by LD productive.

Simply put, Smuggler still doesn't do crap in combat unless you're stacked with a good secondary. Granted it will mix well with some skills, but the gimpness of anger icons and lack of things like a simple root that doesn't break on damage (the most useful crowd control skill in game), not to mention not many players are smart enough or lag free enough to play cooperatively with our skills in a group, make our skills practicly useless ina lot of cases.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Crowd control.

Ive never understood why a profession like smuggler is crowd contorl it doesnt fit really, in my opinion smuggler's are more independent and shouldnt need to count on a group which presently in pve and pvp they do.

In pve is where we suck the most since pve doesnt need a crowd controller ive been in a group of players all cl80 and fotm templates and really all i did was put pretty little icons under the bar which were broken because they hit the target and destroyed them in seconds because they simply didnt need anyone crowd controlling.

But since we are classed as crowd control we lack the sufficient specials to fight one on one against things which say a rifleman/BH can do, our most damaging specials have the most severe penalties for using them reckless shot -80 defences and last ditch the possibility of incapping yourself (I love last ditch by the way but it is one of our only offensive moves).

Having such poor combat abilities which fails to grant us the ability to stand alone yet crowd control not being needed in groups because of how powerful damaging professions mixed with healing profession relegates our role to that of cheerleader, my trip to the blackscale compond only reinforced this while i watched a group of jedi and BH's cut through the trando's their using spin attack making 2 of the specials which sadly define our role useless and the sad part is they didnt need a crowd controller.

Pvp is where we excel, well if you have commando aswell or again your just a cheerleader, but this makes smuggler a profession which has only a place in pvp and even then you need another profession (commando)to give you that.

Im not a smuggler because of its combat specials so i have no intent to drop it any time soon but to me the few specials which do make me feel like a smuggler are last ditch and feign death and both of these arnt crowd control specials.

Just really wondering why smuggler was choosen as a crowd controller really because their is nothing about it which seems to resemble smuggler, fine i can shot someone with a pistol but then why do they stand still for 40 sec, i understand why eyeshot would cause blind the glare from the blaster bolt and i understand kneeshot would cause a snare but some of the smuggler specials dont make sense to me.

I just resubscribed after a couple months pre-cu so its taken me a little while to get use to the new system. I realize that Smugglers are CC and whatnot but im having trouble incorperating the smuggler specials into my arsenal. Im Master BH too and i dont know how to use the two professions specials together. From what i gather Concussion Shot is the big daddy, but whats the big deal it roots someone for 40 sec but is broken if further damage is incurred, so what do i use it for? a little break time to heal and stuff?

So can anyone give me some tips on how to fight using the smuggler speicals and maybe perhaps the smuggler and bounty hunter specials together? Anyone got some good combos?

The only smuggler special I use when hunting NPC marks is Low Blow. That combat slow comes in real handy and makes it so I don't have to heal as much. I also solo gorax / peko peko albatross by using the restraining shot (run speed slow) and kiting. If you alternate restraining shot and then use underhand shot after restraining shot wears off and they start to close, then you will have time to land restraining shot again. If you do it right, you never get hit. You can also do it with Krayts, but it's a little harder since krayts run so much faster.

Concussion shot... yeah, it's not much use against a single target unless you want a break to heal up. I've used it once when hunting NPC marks because I had a freak double spawn. Dazed one long enough for me to put a serious hurting on the other... that way I didn't have to soak up shots from both the whole fight. Good thing they weren't boss marks, or it might have been a toughy. Concussion shot does come in mighty handy when fighting nightsisters and other NPC groups, since you can daze a bunch of them and concentrate on one.

Well, usually, when playing with guild mates - they know about my skills - I normally just hit the target like everybody ... maybe, if it's worth, I put a lowblow on the target. If there more than 1-2 enemies coming in a pull, I just root them all with the flamethrower and concussion shot - that's the point where I like it to be smuggler and commando.
