That's got to be a BS post. I've used Veggies many a time while fighting with a ranged weapon and noticed amount I was hit for went down.

What the author of that post fails to mention is the fact that as soon as he equips his weapon the profession specfic defense also kicks in. It seem that he was a rifleman, so for this arguement his rifle defense mod kicks in which adds to both your Melee and Ranged defense.
