Thread: Adv Reckless shot Good/bad?

I'm having some things I wonder about Adv Reckless shot.


I'm gonna make my unlocked character slot a M.Commando/M.Smuggler. Can I rely on Adv Reckless shot as my main damage special attack? Or is the lowered defense a too big drawback to make it not worth using? What are your thoughts?


If I got the facts right, the damage modifier on the Adv Reckless shot is around the very best, right?

I love it. Great damage output. I mix it in with my quickdraw from Pistoleer.

You will definetly see that you take more damage than with other shots with the same damage output.

I avoid it whenever I can.

Same here. When I was using it before, I would cycle Adv Reckless and Kip-Up Shot to slightly mitigate the defense loss, and didn't notice too bad an Action drain. Still, if you have any of the Elite damage attacks (Imp Body/Leg/Head or Adv Crit) use those instead of the Adv Reckless, you really notice the damage boost things get on you.

Agreed, and with Pistoleer in me I can use Body Hit and Quickdraw instead. But as a MSmugg/MCommando Adv Reckless will probably be your highest damage (except Last Ditch hehe) special.

Adv Reckless shot is something I don't even bother to put on my toolbar because it plain sucks. It does less damage than adv critical, about the same as torso shot (which has a bleed as well, and doesn't nerf your defense) and a tad more than the body shot from novice pistoleer. I use those three instead since I have them all and they don't mess with my defense.


Crappy design decision to have an adv version of a shot mess with your defense.

Hmmm, with MSmuggler and MCommando, there should be some room for Pistoleer, if I'm not mistaken, you could try to get body shot. But don't have the calculator here atm.

Same here, Adv. Reckless shot is about as useful as a screendoor on a submarine. The only conceivable use might be in a group where someone else is tanking and you aren't taking any shots, and even then I don't think it's worth it.


Personally, I'm not happy with Low Blow either... I guess I just miss the knockdown effect.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you might be trying to decide what to do with the rest of your SP? Maybe healing vs. a weapon prof? From the responses here it sounds like the damage from reckless shot is respectable but doesn't warrant the defense modifier, which is what I've experienced also. For that reason I'd reccomend you think about dabbling a couple points into carbineer if possible. Leg shot is stronger than body shot, and you could also pick up a KD and cripple (which are very nice when they become aoe ). Just a suggestion anyways.


P.S. Are you imperial? I just noticed you're on Eclipse. I would Love to have a smuggler/commando on my team for some pvp...experiments...

Hmmm, with MSmuggler and MCommando, there should be some room for Pistoleer, if I'm not mistaken, you could try to get body shot. But don't have the calculator here atm.




Yes but you sacrifice healing. I prefer sticking with basic shots like kip up for added defense vs dmg.

If you are going for mass crowd control...Master Smuggler/Commando/xxx4 pistols is the way to go. Mass AoEs with panic, concussion, and root will complete put any PvP fight on your teams side if they all are attacking the same target and not using AoEs to break your holds.



or if you want to be able to heal your self (just incase) Master Smuggler/Commando/xx2x medic is good too....just get +25 Healing Efficiency CA/AA's to help increase your healing amount. I know that as xx3x medic with 25 Healing Efficiency you can heal for close to 1K.

I duel everyone in my squad waiting for the crowd control and when it hits I come up to the group and area attack and unconcuss them all and end duels. They then have 40 seconds to kill crowd control. As a crowd control with little healing you are dead meat.
