Thread: The Rise of the Producers
cpz wrote:Is it me, or are Devs now mentioning The Producers more and more these days? I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of Dev posts on these boards refer to these mysterious Producers in the last week or soCould it be that theDev team see what a ghastly state things are in and are trying to distance themselves from those steering the game?Hmmm, food for thought
Well I know for a FACT, that the Producers have NO idea what the game is even about, and so any decision they make is a HORRIBLE one.
BUT, I am pretty sure that the Devs are pretty culpable as well.
I think it is definitely a combination of the two teams that screwed up the game. How much each team screwed it up? That's the million dollar question. My vote is Devs: Most of the earlier screw ups, Producers, most of the recent screw ups. Smuggler? I dunno, definitely something weird going on behind the scenes with Smuggler, always has been.
I don't think it's any secret that there are new producers. They obviously just run things a little differently than the old ones so I think it's just clearer now that the designers are taking their plans to the producers to get them approved.
It's probably always worked this way and it's just becoming really clear now like inside the office, so it's getting communicated to us out here now too. ![]()

It's springtime for Hayden and LucasArts
Winter for Stangl and Tiggs
We're nerfing at a faster pace
The Jedi will soon own this place!
Springtime for Hayden and LucasArts
Smugglers are buggers and bores
Springtime for Hayden and LucasArts

I really don't blame the designers for the lack of positive development in the game. They are just a skeleton crew, the bare minimum necessary to ensure that the cash cow SOE is milking doesn't keel over and die completely. In MMORPGs, as soon as beta is over, the money and manpower goes to producing new moneymakers - expansions and new games, whatever, if anything is left is what is necessary to maintain the game, and that is left grudgingly. It's further complicated by the outsourcing of coding talent overseas (where, let's be honest, you are prone get more coding than talent), which just slows things down even further.
This reminds me of an episode of American Dad, too funny. And it does a good job of descriing thestate that SWG is right now

LOL! (Great show, btw)
Well the 'Producers' need to go join the attorneys in a header off a tall bridge IMHO.
If there are truely 'Producers' working on this game then they need to all be fired immediately. SOE could do better with a room of chattering chimps.
They're not referring to people, they're referring to the movie!
The idea is: The Devs figure if they make an inconsistent, bug-laden game, engage in delaying tactics and broken promises, etc. then the game will be a big flop and SOE can write off the loss.
Instead, people continue to play and pay - no doubt because of the inlfuence of L.S.D. ... The Producers are ruined and will wind up sharing a cell with Max Bialystock. ![]()

I am of the extremely strong opinion that the 'producers' of this game do not understand what this game really is or how it works. I firmly believe it, no matter how rediculous it might sound. I bet $20 that these producers aren't familiar with critical game bugs that have nothing to do with Jedi or the BH system.
People at Fan Fest brought up several Top 5 issues about professions, and these f*ckers acted like they had never ever heard of them before.
These 'producers' need to take the time to UNDERSTAND what is happening in this game before they make any more poor decisions about how to fix it.
Do I need to go and find the quote where Julio Torres states that the CU happened because classes like Creature Handler were WAY too overpowered?

I have a shard of idealism left in me I just can't seem tokill and beautifully made accurate points like these help to jar me away from it when it blurs my vision.
