Thread: Should a Smuggler pick up Artison or
I believe someone told me that since am a smuggler I should pick up artison for the business area of the profession. Brawler, Marksman are my professions so far.
I really dont want to cause myself problems down the end of the road by doing this, thats why am askin before hand..
If a crafting skill isnt what a Smugglers neds for another profession, what would be the next best one?
Smuggler, luckily, givesus a lot of flexibility. BUt it all boils down to what you want to do with your toon. You can go into a few of the crafting profs, or you can go into the combat profs, or try to balance the two. Check out Caylin's FAQ list he's stickied to the top of the Smuggler Forum. Lots of good stuff in there for up & coming Smugglers. I think FAQ #8 on his list is the guide to complimentary professions. Definitely check that one out. It should help you decide on where to go after Master Smuggler. Good luck.
About collecting resources for armorsmiths and weaponsmiths, you are correct.
Fortunately, on Intrepid, a bunch of real nice armorsmith resources have popped within the last three months (naboo fiberplast, aluminum, solid petro, amorphous gem, among others).
We could use another good polymer spawn though, and also some more polysteel/beryllious copper, and colat iron.
All come down to what YOU want and like to do.
Just in case you didn't know (sounds like it from your post); you can always drop a profession. You can take artisan today, use it and see if you like it. If you do, great, if you don't then you can drop it, get your points back, and use them on some other profession.

Artisan is nice if you were planning to go up the business line (and eventually merchant). You don't have to become a master merchant, but it's helpful to be able to place an NPC vendor,so you cansell your wares (yes you can use the boxy vendor too but NPCs look better IMO).
I like to sell sliced weapons/armor, slicing tools, and faction deeds, from my vendor.
If you become a weaponsmith/armorsmith you can slice your own weapons/armor and sell them. This way you cut out the middleman and get all the profit yourself.
I pick up the armorsmith line, very helpfull, but with the resource spawn right now, you will have to gather resource for months. Grind for AS and along the way get as much as possible of all the resource that have good OQ and SR
