So, I log on and am running around coronet getting my bf and wounds healed before heading off to dath to do some more leveling. I get a tell from this guy asking if I can slice some stuff (had my master tag up). Needing a little extra cash, I tell him I can and he proceeds to ask my price. I tell him I charge 10k per slice, 9k for full suites of armor, and 8k for bulk orders. He responds by telling me I'm really expensive to which I retort, "Not really when you consider how much more you pay for pre sliced equipment." This guy then proceeds to insult my intelligence andmy integrity. Being annoyed by an unprovoked personal attack, I refrain from mercilessly belittling him and simply tell him he should compare the prices of sliced and unsliced equipment at any random vendor to which he responds with more personal attacks. I tell him to, "burn in hell" and /addignore him.

Did I over react here?

The difference between sliced and unsliced armor is always big.

The going rate on slices though is around 5k.

He said you were high...well...probably was right. You did nothing wrong, of coarse. You call the prices, but he fully has the right to go find a 5k slicer just around the corner.

Now as for him insulting you....he needs to grow up and just say that he'll keep looking.

Goodness...you don't run into JC Penny and scream at them for overpricing goods....you just go to Wal-Mart...

in the shop where i buy my armor, there are 2 vendor's one with the armor in backpacks unsliced, and one with pieces that have been sliced, a full suit unsliced is priced at 375k the sliced one's are priced at between 45k and 105k pr piece

First of all, what server are you on that you charge 5K per slice? I am on Scylla and the going rate is 2K per slice.

Now I was say that 10K is a bit much, BUT, you are the smuggler and you setthe prices. Next time you get a customer like that FLAME the toon.

In regards to presliced sliced equipment, Smugglers have always been the cheaper route to go, thats how we make creds.

I'm on the same server. The 2kers are merely undersellers trying to steal business from the real smugglers. It's just hurting the whole smuggler economy.

The going price ALL server wide is 5k.

Problem is...people want to outsell everyone so they start pulling 2k per slice...then eventually, people start to believe that's the normal price, and yell at those that do the normal 5k price.

2k is not at all the going price. Considering all servers....it's 5k. On Scylla...4k is fine. Any lower, you're just hurting all the other smugglers hoping you get all the customers...but in the end, you're just hurting yourself, as well...because soon someone will undersell you, and soon enough people will be yelling at smugglers saying they are "raising the price" when they say a slice costs more than 1k.

5k.....is the going rate. Anyone else is just trying to undersell.

I charge 5k per slice. No reductions or bulk deals. 11% costs the same as 35%. That's on Lowca. I upped my rates to 7500 per slice for a few days and got a lot of "Wow that's expensive." or "Too rich for me."

I wish that we as a group had the power of the weapon or armorsmiths to set a price and know that someone would take it regardless. That may mean slicing experimentation or material quality meaning something *shudder* but if the return is greater than the investment by enough then it's still feasible.

As to the original question, nope. You didn't overreact. I tend to just walk away from the conversation after they say it's too much. Just a "Okay, no problem. Bye." and I go about my business again.

Thanks for the responses all. I'm generally polite when slicing as that's how you keep customers but telling someone to burn in hell isn't exactly polite.
