Thread: Slicing Idea HAM costs

Right now on weapons only speed and damage can be sliced. But why not add the HAM costs to the mix?

Some HAM costs are rather high and players may like this option. Also it may be more useful with the combat rebalance depending on how they do HAM, buffing, and how specials work.

Just a thought.

many of us agree with that, and that is why we have included it with slicing ideas that are in Geevo's and My own vision threads that we are attempting to have the developers acknowledge.

you mean so rifleman can use their t21s with out brandy, all lower guns ham costs could possibly do as of right now would make rifleman even more uber, they wouldnt even need buffs to own in pvp, just pop a pixie and even one brandy and its game over for everone else

Both armor and buffs are probably going to undergo some changes with the combat rebalance. Also rumors of the HAM system indicate that the specials bar may not be able to be buffed. If so brandy won't matter for anyone since it will have no impact.

Also rifles are not the only weapons with high HAM costs. Carbines have rather high ones also. If you've seen the new DE10 pistol that also has a high HAM cost. The one I saw was in the mid 60's.

It would be a nice addition for all the combat professions.

It may not be a overly popular idea now, but it will probably be more so with the combat rebalance.

i had thought that the devs decided not to do a specials ham bar. and the reason i meantioned rifleman is because carbines and pistols totaly suck in pvp (without the geo pistol anyway) and besides action (what pistols and crabines mostly take up) is healable by medics and doc, only once ever have i seen combat medics actually heal mind, thats not why people go combat medic. anyway i think maybe a better thing to add then sliceing for hams would possibly before accuracy

It's unknown what the new HAM system is going to be. Regardless, right now any Master level profession is going to want only damage slices. If there are changes to armor and buffs, they will be wanting some to lower HAM also.

Don't forget, most people don't PvP. Most people PvE. So there will be a market for something like this. RIght now at Master most people only want damage. With HAM slicing they may have two sets of weapons. One for damage and one for HAM.

Wouldn't be a bad idea... There are many weapons asside from rifles that I'd rather have low HAM costs then higher damage/lower speed.

When I first skimmed over the thread though, I thought you ment giving a smuggler HAM penalties much like an ID whenever an item is sliced.
