*Disclaimer* This is not intended to be a rant about getting certs for the smuggler profession. I was just thinking about how pistoleer is almost an unofficial requirement for a smuggler to effectively use the dirty fighting skills.

I was just examining my toon and I noticed that without my master pistoleer skills I would not be as effective with my dirty fighting skills from smuggler. The main reason is partly what many people have stated before (that smugglers get no bonuses for accuracy or speed) but the fact that smugglers get no certs is also a problem. Without pistoleer skills the only really viable weapons the smuggler is certed for is the scout blaster and the fwg. Sure it helps that they have different damage types but they are both AP0 weapons which really hurts with all the AR2 and AR3 mobs that are starting to be more common in the new dungeons.

I was just thinking that wouldn't it make sense that a smuggler is certed to use a weapon if he is able to slice it. I mean shouldn't you be able to use a weapon if you know enough about the weapon to slice it to make it better? Would it be to powerful if the smugglers got certed for all weapons when they get the skills to slice them? Some people would think that this would make smugglers the combat prof of choice but just because they are certed won't really make them uber because they dont have the useful skills and accuracy and speed mods, just the certs.

I would just really like to see the smuggler not be dependant on having to spend points on pistoleer just to get certed for weapons they want to use with the dirty fighting tree. On the more ambitous side I think it would be nice if the dirty fighting tree was not limited to just pistols. Does it really matter what weapon I use when I shoot you in the nuts (low blow) orcouldn't any available weapon be used in a last ditch effort? I mean wasn't Chewy a smuggler that primarily used a bowcaster? I doubt it would ever happen but it would be nice.
