Thread: An Impossible Slice How?

I bought myself a new suit of comp the other day with a 66% baserate. I go to Coronet and get it sliced. I get a baserate slice. I walk off well chuffed with my armour with 90% baserate. Ive only just realised something. That would have been an almost 50% slice!

This is not possible, so is slicing calculated in some bizarre way to allow this to happen?

Hmmm... Are you saying EVERY piece in the suit got Effectiveness slices and EVERY one of them is at 90%?

No offense, really... but I find that very hard to explain.

There are two possibilities here.

1. A bug in the game that is either new or extremely rare.

2. Faulty memory (no offense intended.. but it is the only other way to explain it).

If it is a bug in the game, congratulations! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

As you probably know, the highest possible percentage for Effectiveness is 35% (Encumberance is 45%).

Now, you will end up with 90% base at any calculation that comes to 90% or greater. In other words, any slice that would rase your base to greater than 90% gets truncated down to 90%. So that would mean, for example, 70% base with a 35% effectiveness slice would give you 94% effectiveness but it would get set back to only 90%.

IF SOME PIECES GOT ENCUMB SLICES.... Check other pieces in the suit that got encumb slices and verify they really started at 60%, and not higher.

And again, I don't know you and I dont mean this personally... but I have a very hard time believing ANY ONE who says every piece of their suit of armor went from 60 to 90 base. One piece is difficult enough to swallow.

But at least it sounds like you have a nice set of armor!

If the base rate was 66.66 (since a lot of times it doesn't display the .xx%)...and there was a 35% EFF slice, that would explain it.

If I didn't miscalculate a 35% eff slice on a 66% armor should give you 89.1% so since the .XX is not visible it would be possible if it happened to one piece, 35% addition to 66.8% for example would get you a 90,18% or 35% to a 66,4% armor should give you a 89,64%. So if it was just one piece, just was a good slice.

No you calculcated correctly,

66*1.35 = 89.1

I dont know how going from 66 to 90 is a 50% slice...

My apologies. I mis-read your original post. I thought you said they went from 60% to 90%... not from 66%.
In that case, all of the posters above pretty much explain the scenario for ONE PIECE of armor.

Ah reet. Yeh it was just the breastplate and helmet that made it to the heady heights of 90% (unlucky me ) and it was certaintly 66% as it says in the name of the armour. So i guess it is possible lol my math aint that good. I thought for a sec that it ADDED the slice % (stupid, i no, but i cuddnt see any other explanation)
