When I started playing the first profession I wanted was Smuggler, I went through the grind only to find that once I mastered smuggler it didn't do me any good. It was broken and didn't look like it was going to get fixed soon so I dropped it and tried a few other professions but I ended up coming back to smuggler. Finally with no fix in sight I quit playing SWG.
I came back after about six months of not playing, I figured that by then a lot would have changed, and it had. But smuggler had only gotten worse, not only had it not been fixed, spices, one of the few things that worked, had essentially been nerfed by the revamp of the chef foods. I ground out smuggler again. It's not a real hard grind but with nothing at the end but a title to put over your head it hardly seemed worth it. There was talk of the combat balance and the smuggler revamp; JTL was coming and there was talk that maybe some smuggler content might be included; so I waited.
But as I watched more and more things getting fixed, little things that could have waited, while a major exploit for smugglers was not only not fixed but completely ignored by the Dev's I began to lose heart; but I held on.
I got into JTL beta, I had signed up but doubted I would get in and had been amazed at the numbers of people whining for a spot. What I found in beta was more of the same, more grinding going nowhere. That combined with what little we do hear about the smuggler revamp making it look like it's in the distant future has finally become too much. The saying 'too little too late' doesn't even cover it, it's more like 'nothing never.'
So once again I am leaving and I doubt I will return. I had such high hopes for this game. From the first day I heard about it I couldn't wait to play and I still think it has more potential than any online game out there but I'm just not willing to wait any longer. For me and I think most of us, smugglers as well as most other professions, it is really nothing more that an elaborate chat room. With no content and no direction there is no reason to stay.
But before I go I must say that the one bright light in this game has been the smuggler community. How many other professions would band together and plead with the Dev's to fix an exploit that they could all profit from? How many other professions would spend the time and effort, and continue to spend the time and effort, to examine every possible way to fix their broken profession. We certainly weren’t smugglers for the content...we were smugglers because we know it's the only thing worth being.

Take care and I completely understand.
Perhaps one day things will be as they should in this game... and we can all swap stories of our exploits over the sabacc table...

Perhaps you should pick another word to insert there...

Nah, I'll leave it.
If someone misunderstands and starts talking about things they shouldnt, I'll have a conversation log and a /report in before the night is over.
Helps weed them out!

I hope for the day when everyone returns and goes 'wow...they fixed it all...'

Can't say that I blame ya Sunrunner. I'm just hangin on hoping for a good reason to play on a normal basis again. The last two weeks all I've done is help a chef friend gather milk one night and some shopping. I'm too stubborn for my own good and I probably will fool around with JTL for a bit, but will remain bitterly disappointed until the combat revamp is live(some time next year most likely). I've been catching up on some console games and had forgotten what it's like to play a polished game that has interesting game play and control systems
