Thread: Faction Pricing?
I never sell under 100 credits a point unless I have it on me... I would never sell that much for that cost unless Iwas buying for myself.
and if your a low ranking officer... charge more

If you're selling for less than 86cr per point, you're screwing the smuggler community and setting an unrealistic expectation for customers. Ask an Architect why it's bad to undersell your profession...
Personally, I sell for a flat 120cr per point (in blocks of 1000)unless you're a frequent customer or buying more than 10,000 points. Customers who don't like the price are cordially invited to go find that mythical smuggler who "always" sells at 100 per (but is never on when they want to buy) and added to /ignore if they presume to set my price or waste my time in debate.
Remember that the only way to sell faction cost-effectively is to achieve the rank of Colonel - a task which will cost you an estimated 3.4 million credits. The customer is the one who benefits from that investment, so they should help to offset the cost. If you sell for 100cr per, you're only making a profit of 14.4 cr per point, meaning you'll have to sell 236,000 FP before you break even. Any Smuggler who doesn't see that as a losing proposition should turn in their secret decoder ring and Han Solo Fan Club card on the way out...
The only time I go lower than 120 per is for Rebels who want to switch sides (they get 5200 FP for 500k) and people who are buying FP to biolink factional armor (they get 7700 FP for 840k) because I feel my role as an Imperial "smuggler" (I prefer the term Quartermaster, myself) is to encourage participation in the GCW. It always amazes me when people ask me to "spare" 3000 FP (that's like asking a stranger for 1/4 million credits) or give away FP because they are "fellow Imperials" (as if anyone else has a use for the product).
You don't need to justify /addignore to customers like that. If a prospect is wasting your time, making demands, or trying to set your price, make an attempt to educate them (it sometimes works) and then /addignore if you wish. I've had more than one transaction that ended with "If you don't feel my time is worth your credits, we have nothing further to discuss". Don't let this make you afraid to stick by your guns - for every idiot I've added to ignore, I've had some other repeat customer that I've walked away from a million credits richer.
I sell at a flat 100 cpu, since it's cheaper for Rebels. I don't get much business though, because the afk faction grinders are taking large orders and selling for under what it costs me to buy it.
See clicky in sig:
My price: 150 creds per FP for any order under 5000 FP. 125 for 5000+ FP. I'm not competing with the FP grinders. If clients wish to scour the galaxy to find that 'perfect price'....that's fine. I'm not here for them. I'm here for those people wanting fast FP from someone who is available right now. A cheaper price doesn't necessarily mean a 'better deal', especially if it takes hours (or days) to find it. The client's time just as important as the smuggler's.
How many would bypass their local General Store that has milk for $3/gal...to drive 50 miles (and back)so they only have to pay $2.50/gal. That's what we Smuggler's are: the local corner-store that people can quickly get their 'shady' deals done at. And then move on with thier day.
I don't sell any more since I went imp briefly to get a JSF and had to drop Rebel, but quite honestly I think the cheap pilot grind fp coupled with big guilds supplying their own members at cheap rates meant that the fp market was dead for me at the prices I had to sell to make a sensible profit.
