Iwas told in game (by a master smuggler) that slices could fail and make the weapon/armor piece unslicable ie adding customization without giving any benefit. Since there's nothing about that in the FAQ can I safely assume it's BS? Slicing skill only determines what slices you can do, not failure/success?

Lol, the only wat the slice can fail is if the slicer isn't doing what he's supposed to. If he screws up, it's on purpose.

Don't know of any such thing as a slice failure, but there is such a thing as a Failure Slicer.

I have people come to me all the time with weapons that some dork messed up on and told them that you could have slices removed... Man are they pissed off when I tell them that the guy just plain lied because he didn't want to get in trouble for messing up their weapon.

In the old system, I messed up once, clipped the wrong wire. However, I was honest, told the customer what I did, gave him his weapon back AND paid him for what the weapon was worth. But in the new system, you can't, unless you choose the wrong slice. This is where it gets back to honesty. If it makes you nervous about smugglers, stick to friends and/or guildmates, at least then you know what you're getting.

The important thing to remember here is: Do not bother your Smuggler while he's slicing your gear!

I've had customers who want to chat, who continue to ask questions, or worst of all, to send me tells asking "are you still there?" The best reply I can offer is "You know, the more you bother me while I'm trying to do this, the more likely I am to make a mistake and screw up your equipment." If that doesn't shut them up, they deserve whatever happens.
