Thread: A thought about slicing after the CURB

I wasfinishing off slicing my pvp suits for both my toons. Kenney Now has a 12-13% stun 89-90 base suit except for helmet which is 39% stun and 83% base (never hit 90% without getting it loot altered and I can't afford that )All the encumbrance slices have gone to Tig who now has a very 12% Stun 71% base low encumbrance for hunting Jedi with That way I didn't care which side of slicing a got as long as the base for kenney hit 90ish Couldn't be bothered with the 1% on the legs It worked out rather will

Anyways back to topic just though I'd share the bored mood I was in while slicing 50 odd bits of armour. So I was thinking of the cap they probably will be putting on armour in the CURB. It's been estimated to be around 50 and this got me thinking that standard armour before a slice will be around 40% basenice round number. Now if you get a 35% base slice on that you hit 50 cap but you only need a 24% base slice to hit 50 (rounded up) that's 11% of our slicing percentage gone out of the window.

Now if they make it so the post-slice cap is 50% but thepre-slicecap is around 35% then you'll never hit that 50% cap even with a 35% base slice which comes out to 47 (rounded down)

Oh well just bored, comment if you fancy

Well they have been talking about makeing each armor more useful, and no longer any the best armor. So I am going to pitch a wild guess. That players will actually prefer encumberance slices on armor anyway especially since the buffs will get stuffed. I am also betting the just might be altering some of the way armor is made to make it harder for armorsmiths to come remotely close to capping armor. Perhaps changeing the ingredients for the layers and so forth.

anyone miss the days when you wore armor or didn't, based on your personal playing style?

Actually, I'm looking forward to the day when everyone (myself included) won't all be wearing comp armor. As much as I'd like to LOOK like a smuggler, it just doesn't make sense the way things are now. I'd like to be able to dress the part and not be a damage magnet at the same time.

it is also rumored there might be armor certs, tho of that i am not sure. and as ana-mo-cara said, TH has stated that composite will no longer be the end-all be-all of armor that it is now. Different armor will be useful in different situations. for example, i remember way back when if you were going critter hunting, u didn't wear comp, u wore ubese because the enc was lower and the kinetic eff was generally higher than comp, and the critters you were hunting only dealt kinetic damage. now tho, comp is the uber armor with 80-90% resists, which of course are going to be nerfed

and I'm looking forward to it

In a word? Yes.

Quite honestly they can take slicing and sink it to the bottom of the sea IF ONLY the let us smuggle.

I'd prefer that armor provided only marginal protection at a cost and that it was mostly a fashion statement. But then SOE would need to get someone with some fashion sense to redesign the armor...

I remember I got upset with my zabrak and rerolled him because there was no way he could wear the heavy armour my human friends wore. We were all runnning around with HAM of 400 cause all our stats were in secondaries. And you had to wait days to wear a different set of armour cause of stat migration. There was doc buffs but they were expensive when you just saved up 150k for your composite and to get it slices once you got your armour. (That was the reason I took up smuggler as my first proffession I joined the SMUGGLER cause later. Don't tell anyone in here they'll linch me ) Buffs were a luxary to been taken if you were going to lok for xp hunting. A rebel pistoleer camping bestine starport with a 350 krayted FWG5 was something to fear.

Oh yeah and I made my way up to colonel with my walking metal chicken. I'd drive (I also discovered the game about 6 months after USA realease Don't know when the UK release was)all the way to Imperial outpost on lok and getting 220 lvl missions and sending in my AT-ST to attack while I stood back picking things off with my 195 damage FWG5 Oh the days

oh I've found the uk release date, it was the 31/10/03 and I started like the mid January. Soitonly took me like 2 and a 1/2 months to buy the game I saw it before but didn't like the idea of paying monthly subscriptions. Now I have 2 accounts

I always liked chittin myself. Low ham costs and getting it ubered to kinetic damage. Used to work pretty good. I could afford to be more generous with my specials, and wasnt totally destoyed when a critter got ahold of me. The question I got is this who is going to get boned. As in bone armor who will be the lucky devils that get saddled with that bad boy. If its just scout or marksman. One must ask the question if all the armors will be improved what the hell will bone be. The anti flame armor. Or something real cute the anti cold stun armor.

Why does my armor have cold protection. Its not like there are alot of sg82 gangstas looking to lay a beatdown.

I remember back when the game launched, the group I was with on Eclipse was going to be an all crafting/mercantile guild. I decided I wanted to be an armorsmith. This was before practice was even in the game.
I couldn't *give* the stuff away.

I look like a meatlump
I've got mismatched bone/tantel armor, one arm of comp and a merc bandolier

It makes me kind of happy that I probably won't have to change my amor much when the CURB hits.

my first set of armor was bone armor, before comp came out.. everyone was wearing peices of it. bone armor if they do make it viable again should be fire /heat/acid resist. it is bone after all.
