I just started a new char and found a really nasty bug for new players trying to get Smuggler.

There is no way to train the Delinquency line of smuggler as the combat xp requirement is 60k combat xp and the combat xp cap is based on either another elite combat profession or ranged support. As the ranged support line is NOT a requirement for smuggler, there is no way to gain combat xp unless you train the entire line of ranged support to pick up the first delinq skill.

Lucky for me, i knew to look at ranged support but i had to waste all that precious combat xp on the ranged support line first and then start over. A real bonified noob, unfamiliar with the xp system, would not likely find this for quite some time.

This has been /bugged in game as well.

Major problme indeed, didn't noticed because I was already Master Smuggler before the CU and when respec arrived I just kept the Smuggler part, so good catch.

I would suggest posting that too on either the latest bug thread or the latest issues thread.

yah.. this bug is all over.. a few lines of scout, novice ranger, think one medical line somewhere ... and i'm sure a new master box or two

I had the same problem when I tried getting carbine xp for BH carbines - I was capped at 2k from marksman carbines I. I was able to re-spec a pistoleer skill into BH carbines I and that increased the cap and allowed me to gain xp, but a noob won't have that option. I bugged it as well.

Mmm I have the first box of BH carbine (from respec), would have to see if I am gaining xps or if I am stuck with the same problem, altough I figure since I got the first box, my cap will be based as it should on that box, not on Marksman.
