True story...

As some of you know, I have been working my through the Smuggler trees for way too long. RL committmentslimit my game time, not to mention that when I am in-game I had very little interest in grinding...much rather get out and play with the other folks on my server than grind solo I kept busy taking on contracts for Specialized Services, LLC or running around RPing or whatever...anything to avoid the boring grind.

Anywho, I recently switched to a new Guild which is very active and fun...making weapons & combat XP much more enjoyable to get as there are always some fun folks to hunt with. With the CU looming close, I basically had the whole Spice tree and a tiny bit of Slicing left. Hurry up and grind, right? Wrong, not enough time to finish before CU went Live. Oh, why did I wait? Why did I procrastinate. Why didn't I just buckle down and do the boring Spice grind when I had a chance? If only I had spent my time grinding Spices instead of goofing off! To make matters even worse, most of my pre-CU skill points that weren't in Smuggler boxes were in Artisan and Merchant boxes!

Lo and behold, with the CU we no longer need Spice Crafting XP! I can go out andhunt with my Tangle pistol to get XP for the Spice tree...which is much more interesting and entertaining!

Now I know many (most)of my fellow Smugglers took the time to grind out all of the crafting XP for Smuggler pre-CU, but as I stated earlier: I procrastinated and was too lazy to just knock out Spices. So I am probably not worthy in some eyes BUT I did get enough XP hunting with my guildon Friday night to knock out the Spice tree. I can honestly say I did grind through Smuggler...even if some of the grinding took placeunder the new CU requirements.

I am now the proud owner (and operator) of a brand-new Renegade pistol (which kicks arse btw)! I took my time and dragged it outfor as long as I could but I am finally a Master Smuggler. Thanks to everyone who provided help, hints, and relatively inexpensive Slicing equipmenty along the way!

Suggestions for a second elite prof anyone? I don't have many skill points to respec at all, since I had a lot of Merchant and Artisanto support my Novice Smuggler prior to the CU.I started grinding BH (got to X-2-3-1 yesterday after starting from scratch), but I was also considering Pistolier again. Remember, I still have virtually no combat skillsto respec. All I can do is free up skill points from Merchant & Artisan after I grind requisite XP. I appreciate any feedback

Congrats!!!

I would strongly recommend commando! I have always been a hardcore pistol fan by going pistoleer/smuggler, but smuggler with 0440 commando is fun as hell.I even picked up pistoleer 4030 too.

Pistoleer really does compliment smuggler crowd control abilities, but I think that Intimidate shot, Improved Body Shot, and the pistol speed/accuracy mods are what is best from that profession.

Commando will automatically turn all of your crowd control specials into the ability to control a sizeable portion of a battlefield, and keep entire lairs well under control.

Okay, lemme amend that advice. Commando weapons in PvP are HORRIBLE. The AOE for both damage and sticking states is respectively non-existant and buggy.

I'm quite appalled at Commando's ability to do damage.

I built some area of effect spamming into my template--Master smuggler/pistols with the BH carbine line.

Doing a /burstrun and alternating between /fan and /spray all hopped up on brandy and pixie made those time trials in Etyyy a breeze. Except for the occasional incap.
