Thread: Idea for smuggler immersion in the whole Jedi / BH house issue

Well I wasn't the originator of the idea, but I figured I'd outline what I'd like to see happen. It would give us something else to do, give both the Jedi a chance to stay hidden a bit longer or time to figure out a plan of escape and give the bounty hunters an option to actually get to the mark eventually.

Jedi runs into a house, the bounty hunter either brings with him a smuggler or calls one to come help giving him a bit of cash for the help. Smuggler comes out and slices the door lock on the house. Much like the misson terminal payout slicing there would be a decent chance of failure and a timer (not sure of the length, but I was thinking between 15-30 mins). I was thinking the skills would look kind of like this:

Novice smuggler = +20 to door slicing
Slicing box #1 = +5 to door slicing
Slicing box #2 = +5 to door slicing
Slicing box #3 = +5 to door slicing
Slicing box #4 = +10 to door slicing
Master smuggler = +15 to door slicing

I would probably even be okay with a longer timer, skill # adjustment from box to box and going down to a total of +50. Just seems to me something like this would keep the Jedi slightly protected, yet give the bounty hunters a chance to get to them and the smugglers something to do. Although I don't know how you'd keep the Jedi from simply logging out, but, I don't see much of a way it can be any worse than the current situation where they sit in the houses and the bounty hunters get upset. I realize there are possible griefing issues with this. For example people that really aren't involved, having their houses broken into and someone running around griefing them. I'm basically posting this for thoughts, additions, ideas, etc.

What do you guys think?

I want nothing to do with BH and Jedi. They can have their little kindergarden slapping fights all to themselves. Leave me out of it.

I think it's interesting. A smuggler would know how to get into some place they're not supposed to be and it would add a new dynamic. Of course, with the number of MS/MBH running around it would be sort of moot. Also, I don't think anyone would like being inundated with "yo i have to kill this jedi, slice teh door 4 me!" tells. Then again, we could just get in touch with the Jedi and see who would pay us more, the BH to get in or the Jedi to keep the BH out...

I like the Idea, but I'd rather stay far from away from the BH's if I could, they're the uncool kind of scum

Balance in these games means that if we give a new ability to someone, a counter-ability (either direct or indirect) should be given as well.


Give the smuggler-bounty hunter team the ability to pick locks, then you should give the smuggler-jedi team (god, I hate myself for typing that) something. Like the ability to slice bounty terms. Failed slices would push the bounty higher (not always a bad thing) and successful slices would push the bounty lower (not always a good thing).


Just a suggestion to balance the idea.
