So...what?

I'll get this temporary cert, then go out and buy this latest extraordinary weapon and probably pay HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of creds for it, only to lose the cert for it before the night is over?

Quite frankly, while it sounds great in theory, I don't think it would work in practice.

1. The certs would have to be difficult to produce, simply to keep the balance the devs are somehow attempting to achieve. This would probably justify making them VERY pricey.

2. I'm not going to already own the weapon I'm being "temp" certed for, so I have to go BUY the weapon. And, since I'm looking for the best...because I want to take full advantage of this "temp" cert, that probably means I'm dropping at LEAST 100k and possibly up into the millions, depending on the weapon.

Now, I take my new "temp" cert, along with my new weapon, which, by the way, I got sliced by the same Smuggler and I head off to ...*shrug*...the DWB. Except now, I'm stuck. I have this great weapon...but I DON'T HAVE ANY SPECIALS., nor do I have any speed or accuracy modifiersThe best I can hope for is whatever I happened to pick up going through Marksman...oh wait...I'm an Artisan...I'm screwed...

Or maybe a faked license from the Empire to own certain kinds of weapons that you are not authorized to use without an official license from the Empire? Perhaps make it last forever or only last for a week or a month. But without one, you cannot use the weapon (even if you are a master of that profession). =)

See what I mean...good in original theory...bad if you take it and string it out to its conclusion...

I was thinking more like fake licenses for pistols, mostly for smuggler use. We get NO weapons of our own yet have pistol specials.

Perhaps you would only be able to use a weapon one level above your current one (ie if you were to gain the scout blaster certification on your next box, you could use it now with a smuggler certification)
