Thread: Mini-Publish Proposal?

One proposal I have read and heard about but I am wondering if it would be possible as a small publish to help hold us over.

Really simple stuff, like fill out master box, maybe a new spice, and travel terminal slicing.

I know there was the proposal of the smugglers at starports being able to get you anywhere from anywhere, but what I thought of ( not sure if its been said ) but have smugglers be able to slice the terminal, and get an option to goto each planet, at each starport. If there is a group that wants to go... say you buy tickets and sell for the ride, but they would have to be grouped with you to go there.

Have a new Travel agent stand off to the side, in a corner and have him be our contact.

A small publish like that would help I believe to give us something we can do for the community and add a small smuggler feel to it.

We know our revamp is coming, but all I propose is simple add ins.

Anyone agree? Ideas?

I am sorry if this is a repeat or similar to some other thread... I try to read what I can and may have missed it.

Anyone think we should maybe try and push for a small publish? With little new, but atleast be something for us?

The travel terminal slicing option sounds like it could be 'neat', but I really can't imagine that quenching anyones thirst for an upgrade to the smuggler profession.

But I do like the idea of a mini publish. Maybe throw in one of the new dirty fighting moves they were planning on adding. Or allow us to experiment with something, anything.

Mini publish would Help alot! How about some Defences, Melee and Ranged added into the Smuggler skills tree. Even a slicing Mini publish, to give us more control over our slices. That would be great! At least the defences added to the smuggler tree should be really easy i would think.

I agree a mini publish would go a long way to alieviating some of the smuggler angst but I truly believe a fix to all our bugged skills should be done first before we start adding new things. Not that I am saying no to shiny new smuggler toys however !

How about this for a mini-publish.6 quick things

1) Fix Panic Shot

2) Allow Artisan, Explorer, Entertainer terminals to be sliced. Also allow the slice bonus to the terminal to survive a refresh

3) Fix Feign Death so we appear as a corpse (that cannot be looted)

4) Add a mini-quest that allows us to get a piece of smuggler specific loot (new Master Smuggler Spice, Weapon). It could be a simple NPC at Jabbas or Nyms that provides and additional smuggler only mission. It would require you slice a container to get the new loot, allowing only smugglers to do the mission.

5) Add the ability to slice a travel terminal. It would reduce travel for the group, adding value to having smugglers in groups. The reduction in cost would not affect the value added by a player city travel tax.

6) Add a simple smuggler specific NPC in starports. Like a Jawa (requiring Underworld 1) that buys junk at higher prices than the Junk dealers.

With the exception of the MiniQuest and Feign Death, these should be easy for the Devs to implement and would go a long way to placating us. I too am a developer and I understand the pressure the devs are making. But throwing us this bone in Publish 10 will help restore faith in the Smuggler Community.

I wouldn't anticipate any type of combat related changes (skill mods, new moves, fixing existing broken specials) to really occur until the Combat Balance. I would assume the devs already have the research they need in attempting to repair combat, but adding something new into the mix would simply invalidate that data. And if what we've heard about Feign Death is true (ie that it's not intended for PvP) then the devs won's waste already stretched resources to add in a corpse image. The best mini-publish in regards to combat will be pushing to get mods and fixes in the Combat Balance publish. It's stupid not to do our combat line during that publish, since they're already balancing the entire combat field, and because any combat changes they make post-publish will probably result in unbalancing what they've just done.

Also, I wouldn't expect them to try adding anything that will effect the economy of the game, not until after they've seen what the game is like post-hologrind. We all know it's necessary for that function of the game to be removed, as it was damaging the overall fun of SWG. They'll need a month at least to see what happens, how prices stabalize or don't stabalize before adding in any new craftable items or money-sinks.

Just my observations, but it's what I'D do if I were working on the game to ensure success. Better to observe the big picture and understand what's happening than putting out ever brushfire w/o any overall strategy or research.
