Thread: Gah, Smugglers Jipped Again

Alright guys, I found it, more proof that Smugglers are getting the shaft.

First Instance:

I go to a shop, there are two vendors, Weapons/Armor Unsliced, Weapons/Armor Sliced.

The guy had all weapons/armor of the same stats in both vendors and the sliced vendor looked about 25-30% on weapons and 30%+ on the armor. Unsliced, for instance, a helmet was 20k. Same helmet, sliced, 50k. There was a guy in the shop, buying the sliced armor. So the crafter was making about 20k profit (giving him the benefit of the doubt with a 10k cost for the slice) So the smuggler makes 10k on the slice and the smith sells the illegal goods and makes 30k back from the slice. Hmm, unfair?.....

Ok, maybe his alt was a smuggler so he can charge what he wants...

Second Instance:

I sliced a good 10 sets of armor for a guy at his vendor because he caught me walking around and I needed some money. Ok, bulk order, 5k per slice, flat rate, I mean, I'm only slicing 4. 300k pistol xp till master. All fairly good slices. He then thanks me, tips me an extra 20k for my time, puts the stuff on the vendor and leaves. I check the vendor. The unsliced armor was around 50k a piece. The armor I just sliced for about 5.25k credits each was going for 100k. As he left, some patron walked in. I asked him what he bought. A full suit of sliced armor!! I don't know how many pieces that is, so lets say10 for arguments sake. At my 5.25k per slice that is a total of 53k (rounded). Woot, I made 53k off slicing the armor. Wait a second, it was sold at twice the amount of the unsliced. So that makes is 500k gross profit for the smith. Minus the cost of the ILLEGAL slice, 447k. He mad 447k off my slices..... How is that fair that people complain if we charge more then 5k a slice and then they justify buying armor and weapons are twice the cost because they are sliced?

Just to further my investigation, since I was already mad about getting ripped off, I asked the patron as he was leaving if he needed anything sliced at a15k per slice flat rate. He looked at me and said, "Are you kidding dip**edit**? Slices are only worth 5k at the most, and that's from a Master"

So this leads me to believe that the general populace thinks slices are really worth a lot, but smugglers are dip**edit**s and only should be paid 5k at most for a Master slice. *sigh*

Keep in mind that the percentage makes a big difference, a lot of times anything under 25% is worth less than an unsliced item .. so the 30-35% are worth the extra money

I feel you man, I've been thinking of doing what the Docs have been doing for buffs for the last couple of months. Just slowly increase prices until no one notices that you're paying 10k for a slice.

I know they are worth the extra money, so why is it that people won't pay extra for the slice, but will buy the sliced good at a higher price?

its simple math really.

Scenario 1 :: 4 identical presliced guns @20k + 4 slices to get a decent damage slice @5k :: 100k paid by customer

Scenario 2 :: 1 presliced damage sliced gun :: 50k

In the first scenario each slice costs the user 5k.

In the second scenario the one slice costs 30k, *but* the only thing that matters is that 50k was saved in the process.

So what can the non weaponsmith/armorsmith smuggler do? You say we are jipped? BAH! I say if you want a piece of that action then start a sliced equipment shop by buying from good smiths who don't pre-slice and reselling slices yourself.

I have a second account, a weaponsmith (which I will master) basic armorsmith (for making AUK's only) Merchant for venders. Now my main account is a Smuggler (only slicer at the moment), I make the weapons with Squiders, and Violet slices them, Squiders then sells them on his venders. This works great, know why, cause you don't get dipsh!ts complaining about anything, they just buy whats available.
Right now my Weaponsmith is only a Expert Weaponsmith and cannot make the best stuff yet. But with a slice and low, low, prices I am doing alright. Besides he is a Master Artisan and stuff like vehicles and WUK's AUK's and my main making crates of clamps and knives, I am starting to make a fair amount of credits.
I think the 2 account thing is working best, made it real easy. The second account is only 3 months old, and has made over a million credits so far, and of course I spent it on junk too. Large house, Fusion Ion generators, etc.

I am a master doc, and have been for a long while. Personally, I'm surprised that smugs don't charge more.

Buffs last 3 hours, slices last forever, ok well til the item decays, which is usually the first repair, but, at least a day most of the time!

Other people leaving the profession right now is your gain. I would have no problem paying 5K base for a slice, and say, an additional 5K per % point if it's 30 or above for weapons, 35% or more for armor. Potentially an additional 30-60K per slice.

Sure, grinding to master slicer isn't the hardest prof in the game, but with all the $ that's going around out there on most servers, why the he*l are you giving people a free ride? It takes 10 minutes to pay for that slice doing 1 mission on dant.

For people with "shady" professions, y'all are wayyyy too generous.

Please, not master SLICER. We are smugglers, even though we don't smuggle anything

I noticed this twist too, this is the reason I am one skill box away from master weaponsmith.
