There's trouble on the streets tonight, I can feel it in my bones
I had a premonition, that he should not go alone
I knew the FWG was loaded, but I didn't think he'd kill
Everything exploded and the blood began to spill
So baby, here's your ticket, put the satchel in your hand
Here's a little money now, do it just the way we planned
You be cool for twenty hours and I'll pay you twenty grand
I'm sorry it went down like this,
And someone had to lose,
It's the nature of the business,
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
The stormies and pilots, the rebels and the law,
The pay-offs and the rip-offs, and the things nobody saw
No matter if it's muon, pixies, or hash,
You've got to carry weapons 'cause you always carry cash
There's lots of shady characters, lots of dirty deals
Every name's an alias in case somebody squeals
It's the lure of easy money, it's got a very strong appeal
Perhaps you'd understand it better
Standin' in my shoes
It's the ultimate enticement,
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
See it in the headlines, you hear it every day
They say they're gonna stop it but it doesn't go away
They move it through Mos Eisley, sell it in Moenia
They hide it up in Kor Vella, I mean it's here to stay
It's propping up the governments in Corellia and Naboo,
You ask any DEV man, he'll say, "There's nothin' we can do"
From the office of the Emperor, right down to me and you, me and you
It's a losing proposition,
But one you can't refuse
It's the politics of contraband,
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
[NOTE: was reading the post about smuggler's below and the Smuggler's in the movies made me remember my second favorite smuggler of all time, Glenn Frey's Character in Miami Vice. You might remember it, here's the song he wrote I think you might enjoy, with a little SWG flavor added.)

Instead of DEV man you should have put RSF man,
keeps it from breaking the fourth wall.
Otherwise, nice work.

mm well maybe remove or change "hash" then. Keep it consistent with SW instead of RL drugs.
Ok, nitpicking done, I LOVE it! great job.

Removing hash doesn't really work....the next line ends with cash and you need the rhyme.

unless you change the sentence to something ending with the same sound.
Ok, so not obvious to find lol

very neat. Someone should collect things like this and the Fear and Loathing post and put them into a museum of smugglery.
I was just thinking, about the cash line, what if they put npc thieves into the game, that might try and steal cash, and you'd have to kill them to get it back?

True, but you also throw off the metric count of the line by adding a syllable. Not only do they have to rhyme for such a substitution to work, the syllable count needs to match as well. I decided to keep hash and cash in because I really couldn't find a suitable replacement and since this is just an amusement I figured it was good enough to give someone a smile. I hope you enjoyed it despite its flaws and imperfections.
