if you go "space overt" killing the opposite faction's ships gives you factions points. and not just dinky little bits of faction like killing a ST on the ground. we're talking around 50 fp for a tier 5 fighter and around 180 for a tier 5 gunboat. and anyone contributing to the downing of the ship gets full credit (like xp).
i can see this as a very easy faction point grind that makes the smuggler faction buying skill obsolete.....
only thing is that going space overt doesn't seem really popular... yet. i've been to deep space for a couple weeks now and have never seen another player there.

Mm it might affect it, but on the other hand you will always have peoples who don't want to grind faction, or don't want to grind pilot to be able to grind faction easilly. Not to mention our percentage discount on perk buying.
So it might cut on our FP transfer a bit, but make it obsolete? I don't think so. It might mean more Master Smuggler will reach Colonel and enter the FP transfer business tho.

I actually grinded fp about 4 ranks in the past couple weeks...not even trying that hard either. When the game gets slow, I pop in to Dantooine, declare, and blow up TIE's till something better comes along. No buff needed. No time limit...just fp ad infinitum. Just a wee bit more till Colonel. And I really haven't tried to gain fp before in the game.
I like progressing quickly myself, but I can see how this would affect faction point sales. Not that I'm ever gonna waste my time trying to figure that out. Cool concept...just way to comples. The hard part is knowing what to charge.

Nah, smugglers are still the fastest way to get faction. I recently made around 3000 fp in eisley going after those wanted posters. moved up several ranks, was about 3 buff sessions. but you know how long it took me to go from -5000 imp faction to 1000 imp faction when I switched for the badges? 15 minutes tops. Then I sold off my imp faction and bought back into rebel. money to faction is the fastest way to do it period, and there's always going to be people to want to do things the fast way over the cheap way.
