My basic method of crowd control on a PvE hunt...
First off on xp group hunts I like useing a Low damage, low SAC pistol. I get the same amount of xp reguardless of my damge done. and I uselly don't take arrgo, and I can spam stat attacks till sun goes down. I have the pistol set to basic attack as my auto attack. Now in a solo situtation I use a heavy hitter pistol.. Going to be arrgoed anyways might as well finsih it off ASAP.
I open with a root unless the mob is next to other arrgoing mobs. Then I open with a basic shot in hopes of pulling it away from its buddies.. Or I have a longer ranged fighter do the pulling then root it when it nears the shooter.
Once my root icon starts to fade on the target I hit it with a snare. I know there will be afew secondes after Concussion shot ends where I wont be able to reapply it successfully. If it looks like the target is about to maul my group while I am waiting to reapply the root I'll throw a panic shot in to lessen the damge it does.
If I am working with a Pistoleer I will work out a simple system with them. So that we arn't both wasting are roots at same time on same target.. Basiclly If they see my concussion shot on it wait for it to fade before applying there stop shot. I'll still hit mob with a snare near the end of my root to be safe.
I've gotten to the pont where I can root one target and if grooup mauls it fast I move to next target afew second before first goes down. In effect I am not just crowd controlling I am directing fire for the group.. Need to be carefull that can sometime backfire to when I am not working with a gouop who understand what I am trying to do. Or if the root fails
I've tryed Pistoleer/Smuggler to with respec. It works wonderfully well... I'll alternate my roots.. When ones about to end I hit the mob with the other one.. Always using a snare as well for extra insurence...
Afew Quirks with the root attack.. You ever notice that when you root a moving target it seems to keep running abit longer after the root is on it? Well I susspect server lag is the reason for that. I've made it a habbit of moving off to the side when I root moving targets. They often end up standing where I just was when I hit them with the root. So I often move away from that spot once root is on. Saved me more times then I care to rememeber lol
Welp just posted this little "How I Do It" guild mainly for all those hunters I hunt with who don't seem to get the whole crowd contol thing hehe
