Thread: AURABORONS bullet points from fanfest- What do you think?
- They seemed unaware of the turret issues, despite three threads about them in the Corr. forum. I made sure to let them know that Tiggs should have a list with about 10 bullet point detailing bugs and exploits that need to be fixed.
- Battlefields are NOT coming back anytime soon. The story goes, the technology is too complicated, and that's why they were never turned back on. In essence, "It would take half our team 2-3 months to make them work" I believe was the quote I heard. That said, they are very excited about finding new ways for more and more of us to gather in one spot to kill each other.
- I relayed the Elite tier of PvP idea I had in the PvP discussion, in front of Julio Torres, SWG Producer, and the room quite literally erupted in applause when I finished speaking, so perhaps, we may see that after all someday.
- The Content team is going through, planet by planet, and essentially going over everything, and writing new content in terms of quests and more. It was suggested the theme parks would be added to as this process continues.
- Faction Pets; Making them useful, making a Rebel equivilent to the AT-ST, and more were all discussed. I wasn't sure if she was kidding or not, but the Event team leader spoke of possible wookiee and Ewok pets. We'll see how that goes.
- The said vehicle combat (driving AT-ATs/AT-STs and such) wasn't out of the picture, but would require an expansion if they do it, as the technology required would be a massive undertaking.
- No alien Imperial faction armor is planned.
- Swamptrooper armor, and black stormtrooper armor are absolutely NOT going to happen.
- The issues related to bio-linking were raised, and they promised to look at it.
- Multiple sessions had people asking for rank to mean something. I think they got the message. Discussions were had about how to best add higher ranks as well, with possible PvP requirements similar to an FRS system being part of it.
- The spawning system is being revamped so that factional spawns don't impact the planetary spawns as significantly as they do now. In related news, that's why they didn't give us the Strategic Bases from Testcentet. They had so many npcs, that a few of them on one planet would royally mess up the planetary spawns. We see them in live at some point yet.
- Multiple people mentioned the faction purchased weapons are no good at all, and they said they'd look at that more.
- The issue of factional PvP largely being Jedi vs Rifle wielding peoplewas raised multiple times, and it broke down to the reason being the extra range. They seemed to consider the idea of making rifles fire slower, so that the other weapons become more attractive to use.
- Multiple asks for a factional chat tab. Their reply was they felt there were already a lot of tabs, and didn't want to make it cluttered. I pointed out a factional chat would be more useful than a planetary chat for example, and they seemed to get the idea.
- Multiple asks for some kind of system to alert you if a base of your faction is being attacked.
That's all I can remember now. Just got home a little while ago, and it's been a long day. I'll add more if I think of anything.
Plus he adds later...
New information!
After I left, they showed a video of in game, where a TIE flys into the docking bay of an Imperial Star Destroyer, and gets out. The toon goes up, and talks to Vader, who tells him he needs to board the diabled Rebel Corellian Corvette, and kill all the Rebels inside.
Sounds like we will have Pilotable capital ships, although I'm under the impression, not the ISDs. My guess is Dreadnaughts for the Empire, and Corvettes for the Rebels, but we'll see.
and even later he adds...

As for me, there isn't a whole lot to report as far as the GCW goes, but I'll run down what I remember. Also, I had to leave before they revealed all their new secrets, since they wait until the very last dinner segment to tell anything, and I had a plane to catch.
I guess this is that video with the ships and the docking and the crazy lasers- uh-duhoy, Lady!
One thing that was very educational to see, is that the DEVs are not the ones making the calls on what happens next, so we might want to give them a break. Their management dictates what they work on next. They do input what they are excited about, and would like to work on. However, ultimately, the decision is made by Lucasarts and SOE management.
Hence all the emphasis on Jedi. Man, I would like to kick management in the ding-ding sometimes.

Um, this is kinda messed up- but it confirms what Veela was pointing out earlier. My only guess is that Tiggs and TH were so wrapped up in the CU that anything outside of it fell to the wayside. Idunno how to take this...

I really wanted to compete in the battlefields as a full fledged soldier. Tried them as a newb way back and couldn't get past the gate before I got whacked. We really have to come up with ideas for PvP only areas. Damnit.
- I relayed the Elite tier of PvP idea I had in the PvP discussion, in front of Julio Torres, SWG Producer, and the room quite literally erupted in applause when I finished speaking, so perhaps, we may see that after all someday.
I really think this is going to happen and I think it SHOULD happen. The only argument against this is a Jedi who thinks he has earned the right to totally pwn non-Jedi players whenever he feels like it because of the grind/negative aspects of being a Jedi. There is nothing that says Jedi can't still affect the GCW with this kind of system- there are several ways for that to happen.
The sooner this comes about the more fun for all (including Jedi).
- The Content team is going through, planet by planet, and essentially going over everything, and writing new content in terms of quests and more. It was suggested the theme parks would be added to as this process continues.
That would be real cool. Hopefully the theme parks will be more involved and feature more than just two types of quest than the run out and destroy and go pretend to escort this spy back home.
- Faction Pets; Making them useful, making a Rebel equivilent to the AT-ST, and more were all discussed. I wasn't sure if she was kidding or not, but the Event team leader spoke of possible wookiee and Ewok pets. We'll see how that goes.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? SIDEKICKS! Hunh? Right? Hunh?
- The said vehicle combat (driving AT-ATs/AT-STs and such) wasn't out of the picture, but would require an expansion if they do it, as the technology required would be a massive undertaking.
An expansion? Hmmmmm. Like a HOTH EXPANSION? You don't say. That would be NICE!
- No alien Imperial faction armor is planned.
Sorry non-humans, but I think this is a good thing. That is how the Empire is- they's player haters. That's why I'm aRebel.
- Swamptrooper armor, and black stormtrooper armor are absolutely NOT going to happen.
I can only guess that they don't want EVERYONE walking around in this armor. Which I understand and know would happen.
- The issues related to bio-linking were raised, and they promised to look at it.
What issue? That it costs so freakin' much faction!? Oh, waitaminute. I'm a Smuggler...Raise the costs! Raise the costs! /rubhands greedily.
- Multiple sessions had people asking for rank to mean something. I think they got the message. Discussions were had about how to best add higher ranks as well, with possible PvP requirements similar to an FRS system being part of it.
This is probably one of the best ideas ever. Something like this could be a great alternative to going Jedi AND boost GCW battles. I would really like to know more about this.
Please hurry.
- Multiple people mentioned the faction purchased weapons are no good at all, and they said they'd look at that more.
Tell me about it. Factional Weapons are t3h suX. It would be cool ifthey had hardcore weapons that cost faction, were constructed by WS and you had to maintain a certain rank - or even be in the Elite tier touse them.
- The issue of factional PvP largely being Jedi vs Rifle wielding peoplewas raised multiple times, and it broke down to the reason being the extra range. They seemed to consider the idea of making rifles fire slower, so that the other weapons become more attractive to use.
I don't want to sound like I am calling for a nerf on Rifles because a Rifleman on his own is not uber in the least- but rifles in general are necessary due to the distance and very little sacrafice in regards to speed (thanks to my BH skills I can fire a Rifle just as fast as my pistols).
Rifles need to slow down a great deal and have harder hits OR Pistols need to go faster and Carbs need to have multiple hits/AoE added or something to make them as viable.
Once someone gets in range of pistols a Pistoleer, Smuggler, BH should be carving you up pretty seriously and quickly.
- Multiple asks for a factional chat tab. Their reply was they felt there were already a lot of tabs, and didn't want to make it cluttered. I pointed out a factional chat would be more useful than a planetary chat for example, and they seemed to get the idea.
C'mon. Give us a chat channel, man. Why you holdin' out on us. Don't you want the GCW to kick off?
- Multiple asks for some kind of system to alert you if a base of your faction is being attacked.
If this happens- and it SHOULD happen- the GCW will be ON! I would love to get a message that a base is being attacked while I was out in the wilds gankin' Nightsisters. I would really feel like I was a part of something then.
It would be even cooler if I got e-mails- you know, like to your RL e-mail account- that bases were under attack.
That's all I can remember now. Just got home a little while ago, and it's been a long day. I'll add more if I think of anything.

I might have to finally start running up them piloting skills....
and even later he adds...
Oh yeah... and this one is for Treena_Daal...
I talked to the JTL Lead, Darth_Platypus, about the Lambda Shuttle. Most of it is finished, but they need the art assests for the interior. Arts assests take a while to get to a finished state. Apparently, they're thinking plush, red velvet curtains, and such. Like a luxury limo interior maybe. He even hadthe artist picked out if I remember correctly. It's one of those things though.. management calls the shots on where time is spent.
So, we may have to wait a bit longer... but it's a lot closer than we thought.
That sounds cool- if'n you is an Imp. Dad' blasted Imperials. We need to get back ta' fuedin'!
Could you somehow explain it to me then?
I mean, now pretty much everyone's walking around in the Clonetrooper armor and the invented-for-the-game heavy Imperial armor. Oh, and the Rebel Guyver suit. I mean seriously - everyone. The only people I've seen in normal ST suits recently are a few people from DSR (Farstar ST RP squad).
Would actual SW armor sets be worse than that somehow? *puzzled*
They had a PvP zone in JTL when it came out, so they tech should be accessible.
Then I had a thought that maybe the PvP planet should be Hoth...
Think about it. Who wouldn't want to be part of that battle? It's GCW, it's PvP... 2 birds, one stone? I think so...
I think as long as they didn't make the mistake of making an intrinsic part of a profession to include having to go there, then they could still add in some nice loot and badges - medals for being at Battle of Hoth would be sweet.
I know that it would completely mess with canonic timelines, but to be honest we're so far past that with what we have in game now, that I can't see it making much difference.
Mmmm, then if we could pilot snowspeeders too. I'm just dreaming now...

What I meant by that was- I can't see any other reason not to have it. Maybe they don't want to see everyone wearing Black armor but prefer Clone Trooper armor. /shrug

I think the rumor is that HOTH IS supposed to be a PvP planet. Not to sure about that but it would rock...

This is a misquote, by "slower" I meant movement rate with rifle equipped, not rate of fire. There is much concern about rifleman damage right now (was asked in about every pvp and ranged profession forum) , however before we look at damage ranges I wanted to see what the feedback on putting more of the drawbacks in other areas such as movement speed. Sorry if it came across as rate of fire, that ballroom had lots of reverb going on in it so I am not sure if everyone was able to hear everything clearly.

I have heard these rumors as well.

Wait... someone actually suggested that?

Not that I care- actually it sounds kinda cool BUT that's going to go over REAL well with the rest of the player base *cough* *cough* bounty hunters* *cough*
ROFL

really? then more fool them. If I could wear battle armour (storm trooper armour)I would, the defence on it is nice and rounded. I have to wear scout trooper recon armour with high energy. It's great against Jedi and rifleman since their hard hitting weapons are energy base. However come up against a bounty hunter with a scatter or a swordsman and I get ripped apart.
It's why I've started carrying around my LD-1 rifle for range, and an heavy hitting FWG5 for when things get up close and personal. They acutaly hit a lotharder than my laser rifle aginst a recon armoured oppenent.
I'd personaly wear Battle, Scout, Assualt in that order if I had a choice.
