Thread: A Pointless Story Bored at Work

So I was browsing the most popular mall on Nartius when this guy sends me a tell. "Slice my gun 4 free, plz." Yeah ok, whatever. Could be a newbie, so I /target. He's 10m away. /examine. Full set of RIS armor, higher CL than me, and one of those shiny wookie world quest guns. For free? My ass.
I proceed to explain to him that slicing takes actual resources to do. That I incur a cost every time I slice. So he offers me 500 credits. To be fair, that's more than it costs me to slice since I mine my own junk and make my own tools, but that's not the point.
I normally, pre cu, charged 8k or if I was feeling nice whatever the client wanted. It's in my bio after the story of woe that is my life. He's irked me already by trying to scam me, so I tack on a small PITA tax and tell him it'd be 10k. Might break. Blah blah blah. Don't pay, I keep your junk. Standard speech.
He flips. 10k?! omgbbqwtfq-tip! That's such a rip off! Ya sure, whatever. So he goes on a tirade about the injustices I'm visiting upon him. The horror of it all. How I'm an evil heartless person. How he was going to tell his friends about me. How he was going to find a smuggler who would slice his weapon for free.
I wished him luck and went back to looking for a nice deal on decorations and equipment for my YT. For all the space vendors in SCM, they didn't have a lick of anything that caught my eye. Anyways, time passes and I get from him. He must think I'm deeply retarded and have the memory of a goldfish. "Slice my gun 4 9k plz."
"I'll slice your gun for 49k. That sounds fair." I decided to increase my PITA tax, and his poor grasp of the english language provided another avenue of amusement for me so I took it. Naturally, he was aghast. Aghast. I guess he couldn't find a smuggler willing to slice for free within 10 minutes. His reaction to my new price amused me. He accused me of being a cheat and a thief, which I wish I could be (damn you SOE), and stated nobody would ever pay such sums.
I decided to tell him the tale, in brief, of me getting paid 1 million credits for a single slice. (34% damage on a twitched out DE-10) That shut him up for a good 5 seconds before the ADD kicked in again. Then he called me a liar. Sure I tell a tall tale now and again. I do like to exaggerate and make stories more exciting, but I don't lie. Often. But I digress.
This went on for about a few minutes before I finally told him to sod off and I wouldn't slice for him even if he offered me all the gold pressed latnium in the galaxy.

Nice story, here is one.
I dont know if it was a bug or not, but I just got basic weapon slicing... my first slice for a person ever. My friend actually. I took his lance, and sliced a whopping 35% damage slice.
He was my friend, I was shocked, so I didn't charge him... but it was amazing... From that moment on, I never looked back and decided to remain a smuggler forever. The path of the jedi is gone for me, and I continue to get good slices to this day on.

I have sliced something like 5 or maybe 6 jawa ion rifles in the last 2 weeks.
EVERY rifle has received the exact same slice. 30% damage.
i was blown away - i figured i should probably record the serial numbers to see if there is a trend. different serial numbers were producing the same results. i am completely baffled. i dint record their before/after stats tho. i should have.
maybe they were all looted.
I dont pretend to understand anymore.

my guess.. poorly made....
Guild WS made me a nice elite carbine, I had found some decent Krayt Tissues(54dmg, -.8 spd) for a nice price. My slice on the gun was dmg 3%. I think that he made the gun so close to cap there wasn't a whole lot of wiggle room. I'll have to look at the stats to see what the base is, but modified dps is about 485 with no pups.

yeah I hit Master today and sliced a couple of my own featherwieght FWG5s and got two 8% dmg slices... kinda pissed since I'm a master but I dont know that much about how slicing is messed up.

I sliced a sword for a weaponsmith friend of mine and recived a 37% speed slice post cu. Now before you all call me a liar I have a screen shot ofit at home and know it was just a glitch beacuse the stats didn't go over 7% increase. But still I like to say I got a 37% slice hehe.
