Yes, it does work. I had just finished a faction sale and was standing around when two rebs show up looking to gun me down, so I hit the FD and it succeeded. There wasn't much they could do but stand there waiting for me to get up they told me that they could wait there all day if needed, but I my on-leave timer only had about 2 minutes left on it.

As for PvE it seems to meto be a fixed success rate. I seem to FD just as well in a mob crowd as I doagainst a single mob. When the thug in Kaadara was still agroing, he's level 4, I was still failing about 1/2 the time as a level 80 master Smuggler. Your milage may vary though.

No, these ladies who attacked me couldn't do anything to me except stand there and watch me nap.

It's being weired is all I can say.

PvE: What I find is happening is that it sometimes works but what I can do is spam stand feign death till it works. It breaks agro when I am successful. That number of people around is a very interesting concept and might be true. I have noticed that I seem to fail more when I'm surrounded by a mob. I don't pvp much but it might be interesting to investigate how large mobs and if theres a difference in creatures and NPCs effecting it.

PvP: Kinda of the same I use it quite a lot. Things I have noticed.

Can fail at range but once successful it does not seem to break, people lose me as a target, very useful in those rifle and turret battles we've been having on valcyn.

Can fail at melee distance but have beem successful and can still spam stand fiegn death. Now I have lied there while a group or6 or8 stand around me for quite some time.

Other times CMs and Jedi have done a special on me (heal or throw chemical) and fiegn death has broken and I stand up. I have had a CM posion, diesase and fire me while in fiegn death and it has not broken.

Several times I have just stood up when I've only had 3 people around me (happened to day in theed)

So maybe it has something to do with the amount of people around the corpse. Have been in a 8 people group surrounding and FD smuggler and he did not get up.I have also had a large group around me and not gotten up. Maybe ther is a "roll" every10-30 seconds with at master there is a 75% chance of failing and sometimes you just get lucky.

However before anyone goes shouting nerf! Please consider it DOES FAIL and it DOES BREAK for whatever reason and someone lieing on their back is NOT OVER POWERING. The only thing that might need ajusting is a cool down timer so that stand fiegn death can not be spammed.

Are you still a smuggler oberon cause you already got spice stacking nerfed (Valcyn history joke )

At Fan Fest, the devs were told it was working in PvP again, and said that it would be fixed.

Soon, FD won't be a problem in PvP (although I have no idea how soon.)

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

Bah, I thought it was working as it should with the chance of failure plus supposed breaking moves

How about a 5-10 second cool down timer, just so we can't spam stand & FD till it succeeds?

The main change they made is that it's not a 99% guarantee to work anymore. At master it's a 50-60% success rate, though to me it feels more like a 40-50% chance. I believe the odds get worse the lower you are in the Smuggler tree.

I think I've taken too many pixies but I could have sworn I've seen some posts here, or another forum, not long after CU went live about moves that can break FD. I wish search worked so I could try to find those posts I thought I saw.

I actually think feign death works more like this:

At master level, your points in Feign Death = (I think) 75.

For each enemy in combat with you, you have a 75% chance of successfully pretending that you are dead.

So, with one enemy, it will work 75% of the time. With two 56%, three 42%, 31%, 23%, 17%, 13%, 10%... More than eight guys aggro'd on you and your chances of feigning look... well, maybe some points in FS luck would help.

Of course, this is just a guess as to how it works. I'm also thinking that things like line of sight and distance also have an affect, but I definately have noticed a dropoff with higher numbers of enemies.

Wes please try to explain that to them. It does fail, it does break and the only thing it really needs is a cool down timer of a couple of seconds so that it cannot be spammed when it fails. People see a smuggler on his back and cry that it is somehow over powering. Never mind other proffessions have avoid incap, force of will, selfrevivie. Please tell the devolpment exactly how it works or PM a name that I can PM and tell them exactly how it works.

These run up to nerfs are always one side with one proffession not having a clue how something works crying it's over powered. Look at the cries for nerfing last ditch, Roots, and now fiegn death.

I like Fiegn death as it is now, it has a counter, it has a natural chance to break and I use it as a break to take incomming pvpfire off me or wait out a root or a stim time.
